From Soderhamn to Stockholm and Bullerbyn to Tallinn, Swedish pop sensation Sahlene has thrilled audiences in Scandinavia and surrounding regions since her childhood with her emotive vocal ability and charismatic charm.
Now its time for the rest of the world to discover what its been missing.
Starting her career as a child actress at the tender age of eleven on the hit series, The Children of Bullerbyn, Sahlenes introduction into the entertainment business was immediately explosive, working with world renowned film director Lasse Hallstrom (Cider House Rules, Shipping News, Whats Eating Gilbert Grape). Moving from her hometown of Soderhamn to Stockholm at the age of eighteen, her musical dream became a reality, first as a very much in demand session and backup singer, to landing a record deal with her R&B band, Rhythm Avenue.
Always seeking new and exciting musical challenges, she later left the group to pursue a solo career, landing a record deal with Roadrunner Arcade Music, collaborating with young hot Swedish producer Patrik Berger and seasoned New York writer/producer Kara Dioguardi (Enrique Iglesias, Marc Anthony, Kylie Minogue). Their collaboration led to a string of hooky pop/rock gems including the sexy and sticky first single and title track, The Little Voice, the quirky and comical B52s styled House and, the beautiful and touching ballad Hush Hush, which reaches deep from the heart and soul of Anna Sahlenes personal and emotive songwriting style.
Three videos were made for the album; the futuristic Fifth Element styled The Little Voice, landing in the top 5 of MTV Nordics most played list; the playfully Euro twisted style of House, and the exotically shot video for Fishies, filmed on location in Sardinia, Italy. Sahlene captured the attention of live audiences with tour stops opening for acts such as Bon Jovi and Robert Plant. Unfortunately, The Little Voice album was never released due to EMGs buyout of Roadrunner Arcade Music and eventual fall into bankruptcy.
Although disheartened by having such great creative accomplishments cut short, Sahlene recently got right back to the big stage where she belongs, competing in the Eurovision Song Contest representing Estonia in Tallinn. Her electrifying performance to a television viewing audience of a 160 million with the song Runaway, landed her third place. Virgin Music Sweden released Runaway at the end of May positioning in the top ten on the Swedish charts. It has also received extensive airplay across Scandinavia, The Baltic States of Estonia and Latvia, Switzerland and France. Sahlene is currently on a busy PR tour across Sweden, where she is performing live at concerts sponsored by commercial radio stations, as well as appearing on nationally televised variety programs.
Most recently Sahlene has signed a record deal with Lionheart Records in Stockholm, who will be releasing Annas first full length album. Slated for an April 2003 release, the album will feature tracks from the previously unreleased Little Voice album, as well as last years top 10 hit, Runaway. Also included will be several brand new killer tracks that will be released as singles later in the year.
Whether in the studio, on stage, on the radio or television, Sahlenes ability to engage her audience is effortless, a true natural.
