Irish Author for Harlequin Mills & Boon

About Me

I'm an author for Harlequin Mills & Boon's Romance and Modern Extra lines. Yes Category Romance! Millions upon millions of women all over the world can't all be wrong in their choice of reading!!!! You think so? Well then YOU go right on ahead and take them on... I'll just stand over here near the direct line to the paramedics...I sold my first book late 2002 and it won Best First Series Romance in 2005 in the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Awards.... Chuffed, me??? You betcha! Since then I've had another book nominated for an RT Award, have won Reviewer's Choice Awards from Cataromance.com and in 2007 I finalled in the Traditional Category of the Virginia Romance Writer's HOLT Medallion Award... May this much luck keep following me for as long as possible...When not writing I get to play with my horses - sometimes even been known to bring home a ribbon or two... Hey, I'm Irish - horses are in my blood...And this year I've started my long time dream of travelling to as many places as I can before I die. I have a list - but there's only so much room on this page. For a look at my books and excerpts and behind the scenes info visit my website at http://www.trishwylie.com or join the madness at http://www.trishwylie.blogspot.com or even come join us at the Pink Heart Society Blogazine at http://www.pinkheartsociety.blogspot.com - it's all about the love over there!!!!! If we spread a little more of it the world would be a better place - right?

My Interests

I love to read almost as much as I love to write... and when not reading or writing I spend time with my horses or travelling... Not that I need to travel too far for inspiration - I mean - I live in Ireland for crying out loud!!!I love good writing in all its forms so am a big fan of movies and TV Shows that force you to schedule your life around the next episode cos you don't wanna die before you know what happens.Am also a huge fan of watersports - even the ones I can't do (another list too long for this page). And manage to keep bits of completely useless information in my head for no apparant reason - all the words to the Mister Ed theme tune being a classic example. Though I should point out I'm of the age where I watch RE-RUNS. No matter what my neices and nephews may think...And kids, if you're reading this WE HAD CARS AND ELECTRICITY THEN TOO - Okay???!!!

I'd like to meet:

Readers and Writers in general and of the Category Romance genre NATURALLY - but basically anyone with an interest in the writing game and the joy that reading brings us... Writing is an isolated kind of career, so it's nice to believe that there is still a world beyond the keyboard!

Music:

I'm an eclectic music lover - mostly dependent on what I'm writing or doing at the time - From Katie Melua to Josh Groban from Snow Patrol to Keane from Il Divo to Whitesnake from Aerosmith to Duncan James from Embrace to Nickelback... Whatever feels right for the moment... Let's call it *mood* music, shall we?

Movies:

Any good Sci-Fi's... LOVED Serenity... But there's nothing quite like a good chick-flick either - While You Were Sleeping, Someone Like You, Sleepless in Seattle, Pride & Prejudice, The Lakehouse - I could go on and on... No really I CUD.Also a big kid though - Shrek, Cars, Ice Age, Over The Hedge - bring on a sarcastic sense of humour and I'M THERE...Oooh no, maybe an action adventure - or a good paranormal.... Just not horror with no plot or a dumbass heroine who goes outside to see what the noise was (someone SLAP her)...Honestly? I'm just a tad in love with the whole cinematic experience...

Television:

Spooks, Pride & Prejudice, Battlestar Galactica, Smallville (I KNOW - but I'm curious to see what they do with the story arc - I'm just that obsessive), 24, 4400, Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, Supernatural (and not *just* for the great episodes/writing/direction ;)- a gal has to get some hero inspiration from somewhere from time to time... and see previous notes on the whole sense of humour thing), Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Firefly...All the many, many shows I don't have enough time to watch, ever, no matter how much skiving off writing I attempt...

Books:

Patricia Cornwell, Jane Austin, Terry Pratchett (the man is a GOD), Lori Foster, JK Rowling (yep, me and a couple of other folk), Alyssa Day's 'Atlantis Rising' series, Kathy Reichs... And naturally, fellow Category Authors Ally Blake, Nicola Marsh, Natasha Oakley, Jenna Bayley-Burke, Fiona Harper...(who all know where to find me and kick me if I didn't mention them but who I DO genuinely read even without threats or bribes - though the bribes would be nice gals)ANYTHING that keeps me turning the pages basically - but please, please, please let the characters be THREE DIMENSIONAL.

Heroes:

Now, are we talking potential castings in the area of *if any book of mine was ever a film* here or are we talking real life people for real life reasons??? You lemme know and I'll dish with the info...Either way, a positive mental outlook and the ability to laugh both at themselves and in times of crisis will endear them to me...
