Atlanta resident the past 11 years, born & raised in the metro NYC area (Westbury,Long Island,NY). Played trumpet fluently as a child up until 1989.Graduated from Norfolk State University in 1994, having worked on WNSB-FM,91.1 as a jazz annoucer/host, of jazz/groove show "JAZZ NOTES" & "JAZZ DISCOVERY" (thanks to Dj Midday) ,from 1991-1994. Starting my dj career as a resident dj @ Sapphires, in the lower East Greenwich Village of Manhatten, (NYC baby!) from Oct.'94-Sept.'95 as Dj Baby Shawn, Sunday nights! Sapphire's at the time also as featured legendary NYC Dj's Nickodemus, E-Man, & Jazzy Nice as resident Dj's weekly! It's still open last I heard. Then as a resident dj @ the renowed Washington D.C acid jazz & house, cool spot , State of the Union on U Street in the front room! Where I spun records from Oct.'95-Nov.'96, The State of the Union ,the time I was there, featured as resident dj's Lofty Love of London(who brought me in as a dj there),Dj Aou & EM(brothers), Dj Eskimo, & world famous Deep Dish (than the Deep Dish Boys)The State of the Union was also a rival night spot to the the 18th St Lounge, which was owned by the world renowned dj/producers Thievery Corporation. Washington D.C. in the mid 1990's ,Wow what a blast! There I also had opportunities to dj opening sets for groovy bands such as the JTQ/James Taylor Quartet, Lake Trout & Me'Shell N'dege Ocello, as well as groovin' art exhibits & plenty of Happy hour sets there. Moving to Atlanta,Ga. in 1996 I've played @ a variety of cool hotspots ,most notably Commune Restaurant/Onyx Bar & Patio from 2002-2004, which also featured resident dj's Rodd Summers ,Brett Eclectic, Gene,& Salah Anahsee. Twist (fall 2005), Fever @ the Mark Ultra Lounge & Django Gypsy Kitchen/Bar(Aug,2004-Aug,2005),with Dj Jamad & Drama & @ Shout w/ Dj Salah (summer/fall 2005)thursday & friday nights on occassion! Presently @ the world famous MJQ Concourse, where I've been a resident funk doctor since 1998 ,spinning every friday night with partner in funk grooves, Dj Brett Eclectic

There @ MJQ, I've had the opportunity to open for/or share line-ups with live groovy acts Donnie,Blowfly, Wild Peach(of Outkast),Spacek,Good Friday Experiment,Rizzudo,Broady Champs,Buddy Leroy, Russell Gunn,Kinah Boto, & Kebbi Williams & dj's Questlove of the Roots,Luv Bug StarSki,Bobbito, Madlib, Peanut Butter Wolf,Karl injex Dj Klever, Rob Wonder,Andy Smith of Portishead, Spearhead X, KEMITJUST, Kai Alce, Cullen, the MJQ ALL STARS (present & past MJQ resident dj's) & countless other cool dj's! Also djing Concert after-parties thru out the years for Joi ,Fishbone,Cee-lo,Jill Scott,Les Nubian, Bad Brains, Me'shell N'dege Ocello,Tony Rich, Martin Luther, & Lina! Presently I can be seen & heard in Atlanta ,Georgia, weekly as a resident dj , every thursday night, 6pm-10pm, May-September @ the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in Piedmont Park for "Cocktails in the Garden" @ the most beautiful cocktail party in the city of Atlanta, since 2003, delivering a soundscape of nu_jazz, deep house, soulful rare grooves, latin, bossa nova & jazzy house, 6pm-10pm & Friday nights @ the world famous MJQ Concourse (in the cafe'/backroom) spinning funky new & classic grooves w/ Dj Brett Eclectic (The Brothers Funk),11:30pm-3am. Westbury,Strong Island represent!
