I love it, just like I love all my other funky white boys: Beastie Boys (when they went funk), Robert Walter, Medeski Martin & Wood and (dare I say it?) Jamiroquai. On this 12", Mr. Jones gets remixed by the likes of All Good Funk Alliance, South City All-Stars and more. Check out AGFA's "K-Tel" remix(1) and you can see why homeboy by the bar is shakin' his head all funky and the girl by the speaker is closing her eyes and shakin' her hips – it's that bass! The horn adds an excellent touch, too. Don't know how much I like that Paris-like MC kickin' a verse, but at least the backup vocals are on point. The B'nai Brown, Ed Royal and DJ Enne remix(2) graces the flip with another hot one. Just the fact that it has no MC makes it the winner for me (sorry, rapper dude), not to mention the funk is tight as hell. Also check the South City All-Stars' remix of "Puffin(3)" – the bonus remix(4) is mad smooth, jus' like Frisco at night with your girl. Nice bassline and modern synth work on a uncluttered beat, just right for the "drive there" or "drive back." reviewed by the Commish
