Brain Box

glorious rock cacophony

About Me

noisy, lip-smacking, down to basics, sexy hot music that will actually improve your world. Guys are cooler and girls are hotter after applying a healthy dose of Brain Box. This amazing phenomenon - and we'll swear it's the truth - has caressingly maniacal sonic elements that push and pull you into a lusty, throaty splash of YES!
the boys have been greasing the wheels with the likes of Hotel Lights, Magnapop, Sondre Lerche, Tommy Stinson, Built like Alaska, the Capsules, the Golden Republic, the Goodies, DeNovo Dahl, Paula Kelly Orchestra, Jetty, The Warm Guns and more, at places like the EARL, the Star Bar, 10 High, Smith's Olde Bar and so on, Brain Box is impressive every show.

EvilSponge.com - CorndogOrama review: "Brainbox has changed, I think since I last saw them. They have a slight prog undertone to their music, although that may just be a side effect of the unusual instrumentation. I didn't hear all of their set, but the folks inside seemed quite appreciative of them. And the music I did hear worked well, and certainly demonstrate that the members of the band have undeniable talent."
Punk Planet - Serial Attractions Review: "Brain Box sounds like a modern day Elvis Costello and the Attractions"

Here's what satisfied listeners are saying:
"Brain Box's three-piece guitar, bass and drum set-up goes to show that complexity is best derived from simplicity. With ringing ska-punk guitar lines and some bright and brushy drumming, Brain Box maximizes the tone of every instrument while keeping the sound pared down and immediate. The three performers often part ways in mid-song, each one spiraling off on his own, creating small moments of glorious rock cacophony that add texture to the track and then fluidly twine back together. Matt Chenoweth's powerful guitar solos, in particular, soar out of several tracks into the lower reaches of the Hendrix stratosphere."

"These songs have both brains, and the outright simple fun of a cardboard box (inducted to the Toy Hall of Fame, 2005). Get your brain in this Brain Box now!" -Rich H.
Five Star CDBaby review - love this
Reviewer: mark
I love this sound. The band is tight, the music is fantastic - not the same old run of the mill garbage on the radio. These songs, and arrangements, are always revealing something new. They are always interesting, and I've been listening to it non-stop. Can't get enough. Their web site says a new album is on the way - I will definitely be getting a copy when it's released.
