Metalworks : brief bio of the bandMetalworks first formed back in the early nineties, featuring present day vocalist/Guitarist Steff and Lead Guitarist Tony Parsons, together with various musicians sharing drum and Bass duties.Steff and Tony had known each other since the seventies and played in various bands together, when in the autumn of 1979 Tony joined Iron Maiden! Recording two tracks for a compilation album with them (Wrathchild and Sanctuary) and embarking on their first UK Tour. Tony and former Maiden Drummer Doug Sampson were later replaced by Dennis Stratton and Clive Burr.After a number of years, both being involved in various projects and timeout from the music business, a chance meeting led to them putting together a rock and metal covers band! Initially, just for fun Metalworks is now well established and has held residences at two of London’s premier venues.The Marquee Club Leicester Square and Dingwalls Camden Town.A few years ago due to other commitments Tony decided to leave the band and the present lineup features Rikki Arpeggio and Richie Faulkner on Lead Guitars, Dave “Shapes” Rimmer on Bass, and Peter Cowan on Drums.Past members have included: Les Binks on Drums ex - Judas Priest Pete Friesen on Lead Guitar ex - Alice Cooper bandVarious musicians from the rock scene have sat in and jammed with the band over the years including: Paul Di’anno (Iron Maiden), Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Cobalt Stargazer (Zodiac Mindwarp) and Ian Haugland (Europe) to name a few. Profile of band membersSteff Vocals and Guitar Apart from appreciating all types of musical styles, Steff has mainly been involved with various rock outfits over the years including former members of: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy and early Fleetwood Mac.Rikki Arpeggio Lead Guitar/Vocals Rikki started out playing in the eighties in his native country of Brazil, performing with various original and cover bands as well as doing session work. Rikki has worked with various names from the rock arena.Richie Faulkner Lead Guitar/Vocals First performed with Metalworks in 1994, Richie these days is very busy as Lead Guitarist with Lauren Harris and has just returned from a world tour opening for Iron Maiden and is shortly going back out with Lauren as special guests to Within Temptation on their European tour. So, consequently Richie will only be putting in the odd appearance over the coming months.Dave “Shapes” Rimmer Bass Guitar/Vocals Originally from Liverpool, Dave has been involved with various rock/metal outfits over the years, too numerous to mention. Now an adopted Camden boy (he’s lived there for over ten years!!!). Dave is generally acknowledged as one of the best Bass players on the London circuit. His other day job is as Bassist for sleaze rock band Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction.Peter Cowan Drums First appearing with Metalworks in 1996, Pete like the aforementioned Dave, is a long serving journeyman. Having played Drums for countless bands over the years including RDB Remus Down Boulevard which features acclaimed East London blues Guitarist Dave Edwards and former Iron Maiden Lead Guitarist Dennis Stratton. Pete has a well earned reputation for keeping things tight and is probably one of the most solid rock Drummers on the scene.
