Johnny Hickman and Chris LeRoy have written and performed together for over 25 years. Obviously, they started in preschool, but to celebrate their wonderfully creative relationship, a special edition Hickman/LeRoy MySpace site is here. Our site features new songs, historical (and hysterical) recordings, interviews, a podcast and even offerings from that mysterious, seminal group, The Dangers.---Johnny and his younger pal, Chris

GREAT REVIEW OF PALMHENGE FROM...FMQB (Radio Trade Publication)
04.08.05, Triple A section
Music Mailbag (page 21)Johnny Hickman's claim to fame has been his stint as childhood friend David Lowery's foil in the description-defying band Cracker, but before adding Blues and Country elements to Grunge with that band, Hickman spent a good amount of time touring as a solo acoustic performer. Hickman brings a lot of the experience he developed in that setting to his solo album, Palmhenge. While he doesn't eschew the electric entirely, most of the tracks are layered with texture and the acoustic guitar is at the root of the arrangements. The lyrics are thoughtful and not only tell stories, but deliver messages, as well. FMQB had a hard time picking tracks, but recommends checking out "Little Tom," "Lucky," the electric-guitar driven "Harvest Queen," and the story of a kid who is good with computers, "Hacker Boy." WVIA is already playing a few tracks from this gem.

LYRICS FOR TODAY:
BURNED OUT
BURNED OUTYour hair looks fine
Espresso line
A different kind
Mashed potato timeDeath and fame through your windowpane
Very pretty in a box of pine
Get back in line
Get back in line
How you turned out
Now you’re burned outI’m healed to see you, boy
You wheel the wheel, boy
From daddy the wino
A burnt out albinoDeath and fame through your windowpane
Very pretty in a box supine
Get out of line
Get out of line
How you turned out
Now you’re burned outI’m back for the show
That song’s gotta go
An interesting fella
For a commie who’s yellaDeath and fame in a windowpane
Looking better from this box of pine
Get off the line
Get out of line
How you turned out
Now you’re burned outLook how you turned out
Now you’re burned out© 2004 Chris LeRoy
