Mighty Midgets is a Danish punk rock band descending from the city of Aalborg. The band was formed in the fall of 2003 by Lasse (drums), Mikkel (bass) and Troels (vocal/guitar). During their first year the band was not that active and did only play a few shows at the local venues in their hometown.
In 2004 Peter (guitar) joined the band and the band started getting more gigs. In 2005 the band went on a 14 day tour to Ireland and Northern Ireland. The tour was a great success and when the band returned home they were determined to play more shows and be more serious about their music.
In the spring 2006 the band changed line-up again. Mikkel left the band and Lasse picked up the bass. Troels stopped playing the guitar and Rasmus (drums) and Niels (guitar/vocals) joined the band. With this change in line-up the sound of the band also started to change from a bit messy pop-punk sound to a more fast and tight hardcore inspired punk sound.
In their lyrics Mighty Midgets often deal with political subjects but some of their lyrics also have more personal or humoristic content. Mighty Midgets are anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-fascism and anti-homophobic but also anti-political correctness and the bandmembers are especially pro-partying. Mighty Midgets do not try to force their views on anybody else but they feel it’s very important that people educate themselves and make their own opinions.
Mighty Midgets are known for their energetic and humorous live shows and those who have witnessed the band on stage will not forget it any time soon – unless of cause they join the after party!
Among many others Mighty Midgets have shared stage with among others Streetlight Manifesto, The Observers, Real McKenzies, Voice of a Generation and Runnin' Riot.
Their latest release was a split with the German band the Cakes, which was released in the summer of 2006 on the Canadian label AMP Records. In the summer of 2007 the band will release another split, this time in form of a 7†with Stars Burn Stripes from Copenhagen. Besides that Mighty Midgets are included on several compilations around the world.
