About Adrian:
Adrian works both as a proffesional musician and as a composer in the contemporary folk / worldmusic scene. He plays the viola , the violin and the nordic mandola . He is a very important part in the process of arranging and composing new music for the bands he plays with. But he's also writing music for other occations, other bands and musicians. He is currently developing a plattform for compositions based on the folk music of Scandinavia. He recently finished his "master of fine arts" degree at the Royal Collage of Music in Stockholm.
Adrian was raised in Dalarna, "the heart of Sweden", an area rich of music and culture. Starting playing the violin at the age of six, he got both classical music training and the folk music culture. Later on, he goes more into improvised music. He played the electric guitar, rock and jazz music, which inspired him a lot to what he does. Today he uses all different qualities in his performing and the compositions.
About the music:
Adrian composes music for different ensembles; his own projects as well as other's. Among his works, there is a string quartet, music for his own band Bowing 9 , vocal pieces for the group Irmelin , music for his own group Gjallarhorn , and more jazzy style music for the folk music big band Horn Please .
The music has different influences, but the goal is to make compositions that both is based on and represents a contemporary version of the scandinavian folkmusic.
