Was Born in Messina, Italy and began playing the guitar at age eleven;
at first he was self-taught, then he graduated at the Conservatory of music of Bologna, Italy.
As a teen-ager he started performing with local groups and big bands accompanying several visiting American and foreign stars, as well as appearing on national Radio and Television programs.
Later on he began to study Jazz improvisation in Bologna, Italy with guitarist Tomaso Lama, and joined John Scofield and Jim Halls clinics in Ravenna and Siena, Italy.
While living in Bologna he opened a music school called Progetto Musica of which he was director for a year.
After touring in Italy with his sister Daniela in 1993 they won the Premio Tindari award for the best Jazz duo.When came back to Sicily , as guitarist and arranger he toured in Italy with the Conservatory of music of Messina's own Big-bands: Messina Big Band and Moonlight Jazz Orchestra; also joined and toured in Italy and USA with the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra of the Conservatory of music of Augusta: Augusta Symphonic Band.
He was musical director of many Sicilian Pirandello plays sponsored by the Comune di Messina.In 1996 he co-operated with the American guitarist Bruce Foremans clinics in Barcellona, Italy.
He performed in Italy with Salvatore Bonafede, Tullio De Piscopo, Giulio Capiozzo, Orazio Maugeri, Domenico Caliri, Marcello Pellitteri, Giuseppe Milici, Giuseppe Bellanca, Achille Succi, Francesco Cusa, Stefano De Bonis, Nello Toscano, Pucci Nicosia, among many others.In 2001 he won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and while in Boston he joined his sisters first CD recording session Daniela Schachter Quintet and performed as guest in many concerts and events in the Boston and Washington D.C. areas.Recently he recorded in New York his sisters second CD I colori del mare wich features Gene Jackson on drums, Jimmy Greene on sax, Alex Sipiagin on trumpet and Walter Smith on sax, among others.
This Cd has just been published by the Italian Splasc(h) Records.
