my name is Tania Ion Rivas
i write music and i love to sing with other people live or in a recording environment. my parents came to this country in the '60's so that our family could have a better future. if it had not been for the gorrillas that pillaged the finca, i would be a colombian princess raising crops of fruits and coca plants right now instead of being an entreprenurial musician.
i grew up listening to colombian folk songs, and my big sisters collection of disco favourites. we didn't watch t.v., but we did have an excellent library. sometimes, my brother and i would sit across the dining room table, and just sing until we could hear the frequencies of our discordant notes. sometimes our other siblings would make us stop. i also run a music management, booking/promotional company called isometerecords. i am very picky about whom i represent, mostly because i just want to play and sing, but i do like helping my friends. currently, i sing and play guitar in the ramonalisas, manage i love math and book The HoChiMen. i have booked the following bands at some point. sorta, goldenboy (from LA see the eels, neil finn), Mi & L'au, and a handful of other friends. the ramonalisas released "wintersliding" october 2006. contact me via tania@isometerecords, and i will send you a copy, they are cheap! i have participated willingly in these other bands: Seven African Powers, Mea Culpa, Visitor 13, Sissispaceship, The Divide, The Wafer Demand Survey, Sara Radle & Her Band; i have sung or played flute with some of my favourite people like Ed Harcourt, Goldenboy, Pleasant Grove, The Happy Bullets, Adventures of Jet, Salim Nourallah, and Rahim Quasi. i have had some National & College airplay as well.
