About Me

Ben's Website
I am a tenor and baritone saxophonist living in Berlin, Germany. I am active in a wide range of music, from roots funk to afrobeat, free jazz, soul and hip-hop.
I play in the Afrobeat Academy band, which works with Oghene Kologbo, the original tenor guitar player from Fela Kuti's Africa 70 band. The Afrobeat Academy also tours with Bantu, as well as the Afro-German Hiphop collective Brother's Keepers.
I am a member of the Ulrich Gumpert Quartet, and the legendary free jazz bassist Sirone's group, called Concord.
I play with the Bavarian funk masters Poets of Rhythm.
I also play saxophone in the band of Xavier Naidoo: Germany's #1 soul superstar.
Since moving to Berlin in 2001, I have performed with some amazing people: Gwen McCrae, Marva Whitney, Jan Roder, Patrice, Michael Griener, Daryl Taylor, Kalle Kalima, Antonis Anissegos, Xavier Naidoo, Stu Krause, Frank Schellenberger, D Flame, Oghene Kologbo, Ekow Alabi, Jimi Tenor, Sirone, Tony Buck, Derek Shirley, Eric Schaefer, Ade Bantu, Don Abi, Maurice de Martin, Uli Bartell, Germ, Sammy Quist, Pal One, Danny Fresh, Dede, Nicolas Addo-Nettey, Ono, Tone, Soehne Mannheims, Ulrich Gumpert...too many to mention all--hopefully many more to come!
