Shoormal

Shoormal - Contemporary Indie-Folk from Shetland

About Me

Shoormal is a Shetland dialect word for ‘where the shore meets the sea’. Shoormal’s sound is a wonderful blend of folk, Americana, bluegrass, jazz, gospel and country, recording only their own self penned material and adding well chosen self arranged versions of songs from the likes of Steve Earle, Bebo Norman, Jesse Winchester, Lucy Kaplinsky and Gillian Welch to their live shows.Shoormal boast a wealth of talent – three female singers who fuse their amazing vocal talents into a truly beautiful harmonic blend – two fantastically gifted acoustic guitarists who work symbiotically together and a rhythm section of keyboards, bass and drums made up of prime Shetland talent.

Well, after taking a break from music for the last year and a half, shoormal is hoping to be at this year's singing concert on the Sunday afternoon of the Shetland Folk Festival.
