"Linlithgow's most creditable export" The List

About Me

Following an earlier stint singing with Glasgow based bands in the 80s, Sue returned to the jazz scene in 2003. Since then she has appeared with many of the country's top musicians including Brian Kellock, Colin Steele, Tom Finlay, Martin Litton, Konrad Wiznieski, Ronnie Rae, Tom Gordon and John Rae.Sue is at home in any jazz setting, from relaxed duo in a bar right up to fronting a full 17 piece big band at a ball. She has appeared at venues throughout the country, such as the Stirling McRobert Centre, St Andrews Byre Theatre, Paisley Arts Centre, Carnegie Hall (Dunfermline!) and has regular appearances at Brel in Glasgow, 80 Queen Street in Edinburgh and the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen. She also co-hosts ever popular monthly Singers' Open Mic Nights in Glasgow and Edinburgh (www.whatsnew.org.uk)Recently, Sue has been performing a show called Beyond Fever which features songs sung and written by Peggy Lee, with each song helping to tell the story of this remarkable artist and woman.Sue's repertoire is varied and never dull, and can be tailored for any occasion, with her own take on the standards mixed in with lesser known vintage songs. She is also establishing a reputation for exciting approaches to selected more contemporary material, such as her reworking of the Buzzcocks punk classic Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't Have) which was recently featured on BBC Radio Scotland's Jazz House show.

Just back from my first visit to the Guinness Jazz Festival in Cork. What an amazing weekend, and an incredibly well organised event! I went there with the Sound of Seventeen big band as we had 3 gigs...
