About Me

Born in Cologne, Germany, a few months after Keith Jarrett played his legendary Köln Concert in the same city, Axel Schwintzer has started to play the piano at the age of 10. He studied mostly classical music at first, and later switched primarily to Jazz and improvised music. In 2001, Axel received a scholarship to study at Boston's Berklee College of Music, from which he graduated summa cum laude in May 2004. Among others, Axel has studied/is studying piano and music with Charlie Banacos, Richie Beirach, Laszlo Gardony, Ed Tomassi, Hal Crook, Frank Carlberg, Alain Mallet, Alexei Tsiganov, Bruce Katz, Dave Limina, and Matthias Klimsch. He currently lives and works in New York, being active as a composer, performer, and teacher. Axel likes to listen to and play many different kinds of contemporary music - Jazz, Brazilian, Latin, Pop, Funk and groove-oriented music, Fusion, World Music, etc. ____________________________________________________________ ______ I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
