Sandi Kuhn

Born in 1981, I was growing up in the south of Germany.....so after taking piano lessons for a couple of years, I started playing the saxophone at the age of 12. While going to school, I played in several bands different styles of music (Funk, German HipHop, Jazz, BigBand --- Afro-Dee-T, Plebz, Lumberjack, Sweet Emma). During that time I was also a member of the Baden-Württemberg Youth Jazz Orchestra and got invited to the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra of Germany (which I unfortunately could never attend due to other obligations). In fall 2004, after having received a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music in Boston I had the possibilitiy to study there with some great teachers (Herb Pomeroy, Joe Lovano, Bill Pierce, Frank Tiberi, Hal Crook, Ed Tomassi, Dave Santoro and others) and to play with a lot of wonderful musicians. Back in Germany, I was member of the german pop/soul-band "Lauschleben" (saxophone, songwriting, backing vocals/raps). Currently, I play in the quartet of german bassist Axel Kühn ("Kühntett"; Axel Kühn (b), Marcel Gustke (dr), Christoph Heckeler (piano)) and also write music for this group. Apart from that, I am a member of "The Boston Collective" (Michael Vochezer (git), Dennis Frehse (dr), Michel Reis (piano), Axel Kühn(b)). I'm excited of all the things that are yet to come!!!
