About Me

MËKANÏK was formed by Candy Whorehole und Voldswagen aus LYDIA LASKA back in 1999. Voldswagen had been writing material and playing the drums for DISMAL EUPHONY since 1991, and was hungry for a more oldschool approach. Candy had a couple of black progrock tunes in his pockets that the two rehearsed and experimented on for a couple of weeks in a dirty basement. They entered West Audio in Stavanger, june 2000, and just started calling people they knew to ask them join in. They recruited Sanrabb from GEHENNA on rythm guitar + Briggs & Ötzy from the cover band Bob's Fried Black Sabbath for vocal and lead guitar duties. Also Böddel (LES FLEURS DU MAL), with all his mellotrones, moogs and würlitzers, joined in on short notice. -So the mini-album you can hear a track from here was recorded in June 2000, but due to internal split-ups and fuck-ups the music hasn't been available until now. Candy and Voldswagen left Norway to plunder Europe in 2002, and the story is still rolling with the escapades of LYDIA LASKA. Anyhow; the MËKANÏK mini-album is due for release on Duplicate Records later this year, and will also be released as a vinyl split 12" with the obscure norwegian progrockers LES FLEURS DU MAL (a recording from 1996) in 2008. Nobody knew that this would ever happen back in the nineties. What a mindboggling universe.Check out Lydia Laska here:
