We're on FACEBOOK!
Hey, bands and musicians! If you truly, genuinely want to befriend us, PLEASE send us a message along with your friend request.
We really really appreciate it when you want to be our friend, but when you're a gangsta rap artist with 20,000 friends, all of whom are mostly-naked ladies, we have to doubt your sincerity. We aren't here to pad your friends list. If we don't know you and don't get a message from you, we'll probably deny you. We have the power to do so.
Paper Moon is a pop band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Broken Hearts Break Faster Every Day is the group’s second record.
Filled with gorgeous, expansive melodies, Broken Hearts... builds layers of instrumentation and expertly delivered vocals into an elegant pop record. Standout tracks include “Turning Colours Into Greys,†“Last Goodbye,†“These New Friends of Yours...†and “String of Blinking Lights†(co-written with New York producer/Ivy member Andy Chase). Reaching 1 on local campus radio charts and cracking the top ten nationally, it has been called a “well-crafted and inspired collection of pop-rock songs†(sceneandheard.ca), and critics have said that “they know how to construct song after song loaded with melodic hooks and angelic vocals†(Pop Matters). National recognition was such that the album was nominated for a 2006 Western Canadian Music Award for Best Pop Recording, alongside the likes of Michael Buble, Jann Arden and Daniel Powter.
Formed in 2000, Paper Moon released their debut One Thousand Reasons to Stay...One Reason to Leave on Endearing Records (Canada) and Quince Records (Japan) in 2002. The record hit 5 on the Canadian Campus Top 50. Described as “a perfect dose of perfect pop,†(London Scene), the songs on One Thousand Reasons to Stay... were “short, sweet, and catchy as hell†(Exclaim Magazine) while live the band “could give lessons on what a pop song is†(Chart).
The band has toured extensively across Canada several times and has played packed showcases at a number of festivals including the Halifax Pop Explosion, CMW, NMW, NXNE, Pop Montreal, Western Canadian Music Week and Berlin’s Popkomm. One of their appearances at NMW led to a publishing deal with Nettwerk Songs Publishing and an appearance on the Nettwerk America/EMI compilation For the Kids Too alongside artists like Nada Surf, Ron Sexsmith and They Might Be Giants. Nettwerk also arranged collaborations for the group with members of Ivy, Nada Surf and the Hermit in 2004 and 2005.
Paper Moon has had their music featured in over 20 films and television shows including Queer As Folk, Radio Free Roscoe, Party of Five, Cake and Falcon Beach. The band is even featured in episode 6 of the second season of Falcon Beach, performing “These New Friends Of Yours...â€.
“Paper Moon has dialed into exactly what it is that makes a great pop song†(Leader Post), and they hope to make many more.
