Carving Hearts puts the “dis†back in “distortion,†with catchy pop garage rock -- guaranteed to have you singing along in three minutes or less (because they refuse to write songs longer than that). The East Vancouver power trio, made up of Jackie Klobucar (vocals, guitar, keys), Robb Johannes (bass, keys, vocals), and Pam P (drums, vocals), formed in 2007, finding common ground around their love of Sleater-Kinney, The Pixies, Weezer, The Breeders, Eric’s Trip, The Ramones, and Pavement. They immediately began crafting big little songs about first dates and last goodbyes in a tiny room with simple pop criteria: everything in twos, fours, and eights; no overdubs; simple sing-a-long chorus hooks; and most importantly: every song has to be three minutes or less. Their first D.I.Y. demo recording, Everyone Forever, was a six-song E.P. released exclusively on Myspace. Only four days after its unveiling they played their first show to a packed room of kids that somehow already knew the words to their songs after hundreds of plays. Carving Hearts will be heading into Tape Studios soon to work with Ryan Worsley (Dawntreader, Maplewood Lane, Paper Moon) on an upcoming L.P., with North American tours slated for 2008/2009.
