Aaron's Biography:

"No matter where you live in the world, music is a universal language that allows any human being to communicate, regardless of what language you already speak". - Aaron Meyer, Concert Rock Violinist

Concert Rock Violinist Aaron Meyer has performed for world leaders and dignitaries as well as held solo appearances with major orchestras and ballet companies throughout the world. He has composed for, and/or shared the stage with major artists, including rock band Everclear, Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville, Pink Martini, Leftover Salmon, The Temptations, and our 2002 Miss America - Katie Harman.
Debuting as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 11, Aaron began studying the violin when he was five years old with his father, Julian Meyer. Studies continued with Luis Biava - associate conductor with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and also at Indiana University with Yuval Yaron - a student of Jascha Heifetz. Upon graduating from College in 1995, Aaron embarked on a year of edifying travel throughout the remote regions of Asia, which aided in enhancing his musical creativity.
In 2002 Aaron was selected to compose string parts and record for Everclear's Slowmotion Daydream album. Aaron has performed on numerous albums including Pink Martini's Sympathique. His credits include scores for Microsoft commercials, a nationally televised PBS Frontline special, The Execution, and the soundtrack for a PBS Holocaust ..ary and educational piece, Two Men One Message. In Jan and May of 1999, Aaron performed songs from his project, Seasons of Peace, at two World Peace Conferences, held at the United Nations in New York and in The Hague, Holland. Aaron has performed for numerous prestigeous sporting events including the NBA Western Conference Finals. Aaron's arrangement of "O' Come All Ye Faithful" was featured on the Christmas In The Northwest ..7 benefit CD compilation in the Winter of 2004. Aaron was approached in 2005 to create excerpts of Character Themes (Sacagawea, President Jefferson, Clark), which are all interludes used throughout the Unfinished Journey: The Lewis and Clark Expedition, a co-production with Oregon Public Broadcasting, and is a 13-part public radio series that commemorates the bicentennial of the Corps of Discovery. The Compass, Meyer's latest CD release is the original soundtrack for the OPB radio series, and has gained considerable national airplay on NPR.
Aaron's first solo CD, "Near The Edge", features Aaron's original music that fuses classical and rock styles of music. This CD was released through six live solo performances after the Oregon Ballet Theatre commissioned Aaron to compose original music for their production Dance Near The Edge at the Keller Auditorium in Portland. On May 15, 2001, Aaron premiered a newly commissioned work for the Portland visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at Memorial Coliseum. In Dec 2001, Aaron released his second CD, "A Winter's Dance", in conjunction with his annual holiday concert production.
Aaron's largest and most expansive show yet premiered in 2002. Iniziare, has been the ultimate expression of Aaron and his music. An eight-show production held at Portland's Adrianna Hill Grand Ballroom featured Aaron's ten-piece band as he released the title CD, "Iniziare". This recording clearly defines Aaron's unique style of high-energy Classical Crossover, which bridges classical with rock, world, and pop styles of original music. In 2003, "The Fourth Season", consisting of holiday music from the Winter season was released on CD. Aaron continues the tradition of the annual holiday concert, which has grown to a 3-show production! For the past several seasons, Aaron has opened his holiday show with guest Fijiian artist Jale Mareau, keeping with the theme of: Holiday Music from around the World.
Aaron is a masterful performer as well as educator! Aaron's innovative Classroom Music Project (CMP), an extensive artist-in-residence program cross-disciplining academic curriculum, music composition, cutting-edge recording technology, production, and performance, allows Aaron to work with students of all ages. Each year, Aaron visits dozens of schools all over the Pacific Northwest, presenting assembly style educational music programs, workshops and assisting in creating CDs of student-written songs. He also works with youth orchestras and conducts his own annual, music education summer camp! Aaron produced and markets a CD entitled "Practice Classical Violin and Play Like A Rock Star". This educational tool works in conjunction with Suzuki Books 1 & 2 for Violin, and inspires young students to have some fun when they practice!
Aaron resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Renee, son Parker and their 2 dogs Bootsie and Paki. Aaron stays busy with teaching private violin lessons, educational presentations, composing, recording, practicing, traveling/touring, and best of all, performing! For fun... Aaron, the omnivorous Deadhead has been to over 40 Grateful Dead concerts! He attended 11 performances in a row on the '92 Summer tour, and heard them bust out the first Casey Jones after a 20 year hiatus, at RFK Stadium in DC! Aaron saw the last Jerry Band shows ever at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco. Aaron has climbed Mount Rainier in Washington State, spent 60 days hiking in the Himalayas in Nepal and hiked in Northern Burma for a week. Aaron lived 4 months in Cambodia, 1 month in Vietnam, 1 month in Southern China in Yunnan, 2 weeks in Laos, 3 weeks in Thailand, 2 weeks in Fiji, 2 weeks in Jamaica, and travels back to many of these amazing places on an annual basis with his wife Renee! The Journey... not the Destination:

The original music & arrangements on Aaron's latest CD combines world, contemporary progressive rock, and classical styles. Aaron enjoys combining traditional musical styles from other cultures into his own music and is inspired by his passion and indulgence in world travels. For this particular CD, Aaron and guitarist/producer Tim Ellis recorded a traditional village choir in the remote region of northern Fiji, the Irish dancing & fiddling of the world champion Irish dancers, The Gothard Sisters, and the magical Irish whistle of Brian Dunning from Ireland.
