It’s been some time since our last issue. In the meantime, there were people who thought that we “drifted away†or that we stopped. And it would make sense, in a certain way, when obstacles increase, when new, personal, collective, social problems come up all the time, that all “hobbies†should end. But OUTCAST is neither a “hobby†nor a luxury. It is a need, our need to communicate upon art and the feelings it bestows. And the thinking as well. The awareness. Exactly because everything around us worsens, we have no other choice but to continue, with even more intensity. With even more passion. And if indeed many months separated this issue from the previous, it all seems now as a momentary break – we will not “drift awayâ€, we will not stop.
OUTCAST fanzine is a printed magazine which is distributed freely in Patras, Athens, Thessaloniki, Irakleio, Komotini, Larisa, Pirgo and other major greek cities. It began in April 2005 and it is not our first effort in printed fanzines - but it is definetely the real one! Outcast is not limited in music or - even more - in a few subgenres of music. Embracing all forms of artistic expression, Outcast features music, literature, cinema and a lot more. Since the first issue of spring 2005, Outcast has been released on a periodical basis of three months and includes both well known and new, upcoming artists, with an underground perspective, but always improving its design and quality. At the same time, Outcast maintains a unified approach on art and society, refusing to "separate" the fields of ideas' origins (social, political, radical) from the fields of ideas' expressions (art and creation). This profile is maintained as a place of communication between all of us.
