About Me

Sorrows Path were founded by Takis Drakopoulos (bass), Kostas Salomidis (guitar), in November 1993 after the separation of a previous band. The two guys were inspired by their favorite bands: Memento Mori, Solitude Aeturnus and Candlemass. After several changes of the band's line-up, Angelos Ioannidis (vocals) and Kostas Farmakis (drums) joined Sorrows Path.
On January 1995 the band released their debut demo "Sorrow's Path". During 1994 and 1995 Sorrows Path performed live for several times in Athens (2 lives at An Club, etc).In the autumn of 1995 Kostas Farmakis (drums) decided to leave the band and Sorrows Path were in search of a new drummer. On November 1995 fate struck the band. The band's founder Takis Drakopoulos died because of a serious brain disease.
Angelos and Kostas decided to continue and at the end of 1995 Stavros Giannakos (bass) and Gregory Vlachos (drums) joined Sorrows Path. On May 1996 Sorrows Path released "promo '96", a promo tape for record labels. During 1996 and 1997 Sorrows Path were in touch with record labels to record a full album and performed live again for several times in Athens (Qualisound Festival, Rainbow Club, etc). In 1997 they also made a handy recording of some new songs, but they never released it. From 1998 and then all the members of the band had military engagements, so they decided to stop all activities for 2 years.
In the new millennium fate struck again. The other band's founder Kostas Salomidis was almost completely paralyzed because of a neck problem which was caused in the past after a serious motorcycle accident...
After 5 years (!) of courage, effort, medical help, and the help of God or fate, of course, Kostas managed to regain some of the power of his hands, so he was able to make some noise on his guitar again. The members of the band were enthusiastic about the idea to jam again after 7 years (!!!) and they did on May 2005.
At the end of 2005, the band started to work on their old songs, trying to refresh their memory and they had in view to work on some new songs in the near future. They also decided to release the remastered version of their demo tape from 1995 and their promo tape from 1996 on CD.
In the meantime, some personal problems forced Gregory Vlachos (drums) to leave the band and on December of 2005 Fotis Mountouris replaced him. In the same month, after some contacts with record labels, Sorrows Path agreed with Eat Metal Records to release the remaster.
On April of 2006 Sorrows Path had their first live performance after 9 whole years. They played, as one of the support bands, just before the headliners Solitude Aeturnus at Underworld Club in Athens. On the next day, Eat Metal Records released their first album, titled "Resurrection".
From that time and then, the band was back in full action...
