Students are so lazy these days, right? Well not this one. Skipping from music technology lectures at Leeds Met’ University to behind the decks at clubs around the country, Chris Halliday is quietly gaining qualifications and not so quietly gaining work experience, whilst simultaneously shaping the future sound of the underground.
Having spearheaded a revival of the afterparty scene in his native Headingly with his KeToLoCo comrades, secured a monthly residency with the peerless house institution that is Leeds’ Back to Basics, and hosted the most scorching addition to Ibiza’s independent party scene last summer, London is the subject of Chris and Ketoloco’s most recent assault. The monthly parties, at Scala, are their largest to date with only the most avant-guard electronic artists invited to play.
All that though, is of mere consequence. The far from ancillary residents are at the pulsing electronic heart of Ketoloco. If it weren’t for their acute underground focus, and an unwavering commitment to exciting their discerning and learned disciples, there would be no parties. With a nonchalant disregard for any prevailing musical trends, Halliday spins only the most considered and cerebral techno which winds and wonks down many a sordid sonic path, emerging come 5am in a somehow enlightened state. Welcome to his world.

My Mixes

raison d'etre
Here's a mix I did in May of 2006 entitled "raison d'etre". You'll hear Minimal House & Techno, Acid, Electro and deeper grooves aswell. It utilises Ableton Live technology along with my DJM-800 mixer, CDJ-1000's and an EFX-1000. The best set I've ever done!

Miniature Mix
"Miniature Mix" was finished in September of 2005. I used vinyls, a CDJ-1000 and my EFX-1000 in this set. There's live re-editing, sampling, and wicked sound effects. Again you'll hear Underground House & Electro through to Minimal Techno.

Ash Gardens
This mix is an oldie, I think it's from early 2004 but i'm not entirely sure. "Ash Gardens" is a good example of the stuff I used to play before I was gigging. I'm pretty sure I can hear the EFX-500 on there and it includes loads of "Housey" tracks. Enjoy...

"Kicking off the new year with a bang, we welcome one of the hottest young DJ's in the country, Chris Halliday. After winning the Audio Intercourse DJ Competition in Leeds, he rose to fame running and DJ'ing at the now legendary KeToLoCo after hours parties, which became the un official carry on for the Back To Basics / Technique massive and saw the likes of Ralph Lawson and Audio Jack come down and play. This underground basement party caters to over 200 people from 7am on Sunday mornings. Shortly afterwards, Chris was made room 2 resident at one of the best clubs in the world, Back To Basics, as well as Tim Sheridan’s weekly after hours party Very Very Very Wrong Indeed (I think the night's name explains itself!).
Armed with an EFX1000 and a sack full of the finest minimal, house and techno on the planet, it really is a treat to get Chris down playing for us. Don't miss this chance to catch a wicked DJ who is going to make some really big waves in the future! Check his myspaces - www.myspace.com/chrishalliday and www.myspace.com/keto_loco (this really has to be seen to be believed!)."
