Profile Generator.........................This cheeky northerner has really been causing waves amongst the dance fraternity over the last couple of years, pushing his distinctive brand of quality House and Techno.
Originally winning the Northern DMC Technics Academy DJ competition in Manchester and a few weeks later going on to beat off over 200 other DJs to claim 3rd place in the IDJ Gemini competition at the much acclaimed Plasa event at Earls Court, London (all at the tender age of just 17) .
From then on Denney was a regular player in the House rooms of the primarily harder clubs such as Goodgreef (which later gave him a residency at their Tall Trees event in Yarm) and Sundissential as well as various guest spots at different clubs around the country, constantly pushing his definitive sound.
It wasnt until the end of 2004 that things really started to pick up for Denney when Mixmag awarded him the title of “Youngest Mixmag Future Heroâ€, this ranked him alongside such DJs as Nic Fanciulli, Tom Neville, The Beat Monkeys and Sonny Wharton to name but a few. This was a real stepping stone, as a few weeks after the magazine had been published, He was asked to warm up for Fatboy Slim on his much acclaimed Palookeville album tour infront of 2000 people. Since the event and the publicity that surrounded it Denney has played and can regularly be seen at such clubs as Gatecrasher Leeds & Sheffield (where he held a residency from 2006/2007), Circus, Dirty Disco, Progression in Edinburgh, Sugarshack, Hidden in London, Kissdafunk events and also secured a Bi-Monthly residency at one of the best underground house nights in the UK - The Pin Up Club in Sheffield in 2005, as well as these venues he has played abroad in Germany, Portugal and Ibiza – booked twice for Manumission in 2007.
Alongside DJing Denney has turned his hand to production, currently studying Music Technology at university. His first track "The Phantom" has been released on Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterley’s Saved Records, and has gained support from Pete Tong (who played it on the Essential Selection on Radio 1 as well as putting it in his top 5 tracks to look out for in summer 2006) James Zabiela, Josh Wink, Funk d’void, Deep Dish, James Talk and of course Nic Fanciulli. His new track "Whispers" shall be released early 2008 on Nu-Breed music and has already been gaining massive support from the likes of Layo & Bushwacka! and James Zabiela who says “He loves it – Phat!â€.
With a new remix about to drop as well on Mode Records of Disciples of Sound’s new track “Hot Flush†and collaborations with Jay Kilka under their “Lost†pseudonym, the future is looking bright.
On top of that Denney promotes and is resident for his “Future†night at The Cornerhouse in Middlesbrough once a month, the aim of the night is to bring him back to his home area to play, put on guests and peers he loves and bring the fun back into House music.
Denney has appeared on numerous Radio shows and interviews, these include - BFBS1 Germany, Ministry Of Sound Radio, Galaxy FM (where he has been a guest on the NU-BREED show 3 times) and most recently (in February 07) Radio 1, where he mixed a 15 minute producer profile of his own tracks for the Trophy Twins show.
2008 is already looking good with various bookings around the country, more productions and more radio appearences.
This really is the beginning of big things for this youngster...*
