About Me

The Beero A.K.A.Dave Beerwww.backtobasics.co.uk Sobody wrote this a while ago Dave Beer Punk Rocker (Club Promoter/Producer)A man like Dave Beer needs no introduction to the dance scene. He was involved in house music from the heady early days of 1988, throwing house parties after spending his formative years at art school and in Small bands. Often suspended, scraping through Art school He then travelled the world for many years as a tour manager for indie dance acts such as Sisters of Mercy, That Petrol Emotion and Pop Will Eat Itself. Touring with the likes of The Ramones and Motorhead and with the rock'n'roll ethos totally embedded, coming home in 1988; the summer of love, to discover acid house, bitten by the bug of the Hacienda and the illegal rave warehouse parties. David found his vocation and started throwing parties of his own everywhere from disused libraries to old mills in the middle of the country. The parties were too popular for their own good and far too much police attention! As the rave scene exploded to crazy heights and the Criminal Justice Bill looming, in 1991 backtobasics was formed in an old gay club as a kick-back to the whistle blowing, white glove wearing, vicks rubbing and dummy sucking scene at the time. No one expected what was just about to happen. He started Back to Basics with his best friend Ali Cooke, who tragically died in a car accident only a couple of years later . They started the club as a place for their friends, who were tired of travelling to clubs like Venus in Nottingham and Flying in London and of course the Hacienda. But the whole thing just absolutely exploded, within months they were turning away a thousand plus, this Northern club started to create attention not only from England but all over the globe.Whilst remaining at the forefront of club promotion Dave has also been a TV presenter on several music programmes whilst running backtobasics as well as being very busy in the studio producing records under his sudonim "Out of Order". Dave has remixed the likes of David Bowie and Chrissey Hind in the past and is doing a lot of travelling and DJing on his own and with his brand back to basics club tours. Although Dave is very busy he still finds time for studio work and has just been recording with New York based band The Glass and has a new release called "excuse me" coming out on Hip Therapist label.Dave's musical style reflects a more open-minded music policy than the DJs with their heads stuck up their own arse who had appeared in the mid to late nineties. Dave's record collection and DJ style, whilst always maintaining his true identity as a four-to-the-floor house man, demonstrates his wide range of influences including from punk to funk to electro house whilst always keeping it very party. This is why he is a favourite with the fashion set and is always invited to play the VIP arenas at summer festivals such as homelands , tribal gathering ectWith backtobasics having just celebrated it's 14th anniversary, there seems no sign of letting up as Dave and his band of merry pranksters carry on their passion and their brand of hedonistic house into the next decade.Selected GuestingsUK Festivals - Creamfields, Homelands , Homelands Scotland , Tribal GatheringClubs/Gigs -As well as being resident at back to basics in leeds and red box at we love @ space in ibiza Dave has found time to guest at places around the globe'DiscographyCommunaty [Remix} Glass of Beer featuring The Glass Disasters at Work - Human Touch Out Of Order - I Am Miami (Eruption) Moodswings feat Chrissey Hind - State of independence mix DIY - In Communicado (DIY) David Bowie - Night Moves (Remix) Interstellar (Remix) GodSquad - FlooredBeanz (Junkrock) Time Recordings (Remix) DJ Mag Compilation Mix CD Oct 2002 Out of Order - Excuse Me Children of the revolution.
