About Me

Wayne Wonder's 'Foreva' Drops In Manhattan by Brittany Somerset September 25 - Last night was the official record release party for Wayne Wonder's new album entitled "Foreva." The industry invitation-only shindig was completely packed. The party took place on a manic Monday night at The Manor, in money makin' Manhattan. The lines outside were overflowing in every direction. The main hostess and promoter of the party, Miss Rhona Fox, of Rhona Fox Inc., looked as beautiful as ever. It is impossible not to notice how much she has slimmed down recently. It looks like her transition from being the Managing Editor of Jamrock Magazine to starting her own event promotion company certainly agrees with her. Not only does she look fantastic, each event she plans is more successful than the previous ones. Miss Fox is definitely one to watch in the reggae industry. On hand to help Wayne celebrate the release of his new album were his fellow artists, DJs and fashionistas like Shaggy, who was adorned in a red Adidas Cuba warm-up jacket and matching red Nu Era hat, Red Fox (no relation to Rhona) who was adorably wasted, Assassin, Mr. Vegas and that cool cat, Khari Kill, whose album, show Dem A Picture of Selassie" dropped today. Also on hand were Collie Buddz's DJ Pee Wee, Lady Saw's DJ Missy, and Gravy, ever the diligent DJ of the infamous New York City Rice and Peas party, who looked laid back in a vintage t-shirt. Of course, also present were DJ Synapse, MC Kapone and his partner Weed Cologne, DJ Max Glazier, and MC Micro Don Dada. Dada sported his ubiquitous Run DMC-esque, gold rope chain and lion medallion the size of a hood ornament. Little X, the hip-hop and reggae music video director, supermodel Janelle the gazelle, looking radiant with her sleek black hair and towering stiletto heels and her boyfriend, media mogul David "Squeeze" Annakie, founder of Link Up Media, added to the entertaining entourage and enlivened the party for wonder-boy Wayne. The VIP room was so packed with punters that the performance had to get gully style as a stage was improvised out of a couch. Wayne jumped up on the couch and belted out his familiar, recent hits, "I Still Believe" and "Love and Affection" (not to be confused with the artist Pressure's tune with the same name), and classic hits like "The Saddest Day of My Life" and "Bonafide." Joining him on the microphone, Shaggy, ever the animated entertainer, took a turn with his tune, "Church Heathen", and Assassin gave an impromptu performance of his tune "Idiot Ting" as well. DJ Orijahnal manned the decks after Wayne's performance concluded. The party wrapped up around four in the morning.
