Looking for a place on the island to meet some gay / bisexual acquaintances and actually get to know their personalities? Looking to make some actual lgbt friends, and not jump into blind dating with practical strangers? Not necessarily into the bar/club scene?
This group will hold events on the island where gay /bisexual men and women can actually have the opportunity to just hang out, and not worry so much about first impressions, who should make the first move, who should get the check, being safe, and all that jazz.

The idea: that perhaps romance can spring from the foundation of a strong friendship, and relationships that arise from powerful friendship might actually be more profound, secure, and amazing.

Any ideas for places to hang out would be awesome. I know of a LIGALY center in Bayshore (long island gay and lesbian youth) that might be nice. Otherwise, we can throw events at beaches, parks, billiards centers, bowling alleys, ice skating, movies, dinners, ...
Also, do you guys think we should segregate based on gender? based on single status? I preferred to make this a gay male singles group and then realized it might be more fun and a more natural environment w' people of all genders and couples. Do you think events should be segregated? Should straight friends be welcome? If so, should we have an attitude of not assuming sexual orientation?
