Michelangelo is a painter and a musician.
He was born in Campobasso, South Italy, and was educated in the traditional Italian way of an apprenticeship to a senior practitioner; in this case to a local artist, Franco Iannelli.Michelangelo studied architecture and graphic design in Italy, and before arriving in Melbourne he lived and worked in Berlin for four years.His works have been exhibited in Italy, Cuba, Germany and Australia.As musician, Michelangelo has recorded with a number of different bands. He has toured Europe and Australia as a musician playing concerts and experimental music festivals, and has appeared on several seminal recordings. He collaborated widely with musician/songwriter/producer Hugo Race, and composers/musicians Wendy Morrison and Andrew Ogburn amongst others, appearing in many of their projects, recordings and performances. Since 1994 Michelangelo is a member of Hugo Race and True Spirit.His interest in the textures of re-mixed and low-fi sounds is directly related, in his paintings, to his interest in the textures and redefined functions of recycled materials, affirming the greater sensibility of the handmade, as opposed to the coolness of the disembodied object.'WAX' series'Petals & Thorns' series
