Go dance and sing beautiful!

About Me

"Linder's thoughtful, sometimes pensive lyrics and vocal style will be right at home on progressive stations that embrace Americana" Adult Radio Picks-FMQB***Jo Linder was born in Southern California and spent her youth in Hawaii but it was in Dayton, Ohio that she began her career in the music business. She began writing songs at age thirteen being influenced by the genius of writers like Brian Wilson and Lennon/McCartney. She sang leads and back-ups as well as playing rhythm, bass guitar and flute in several different bands across the U.S. She worked as a session singer in Cincinatti, Ohio and fronted an "all original music" nine piece band honing her stage skills. In 1997 she recorded her first album YOU JUST GET TO ME co-producing with long time friend and drummer Doc Perrin. Her album was reviewed and picked up by New Country magazine selecting one of her songs, THAT BLUE MOON, to put into a compilation disc distributed worldwide. In 1998 she moved to Nashville TN. where she makes her home today. She fell in love with Music City where she worked as a staff writer for BME music. She's opened concerts for several artists including Kenny Loggins and John Hartford. Her songs have been placed in prime time TV shows. Her musical influences have been The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin and many more. Her new album GO DANCE AND SING BEAUTIFUL is an eclectic collage of songs written while living in Nashville. It will be available through CD BABY in the summer of 2008. http://cdbaby.com/cd/jolinder NOW you can download songs from Jo's previous album YOU JUST GET TO ME with these links to iTunes and eMusic ..Musictogousa Songwriter's Network is now playing Jo Linder *Tune In here* Live Show Saturdays 6P.M to 10P.M EST.

Influences: The first lead I learned to play was the "Daytripper" riff by The Beatles. I practiced it on a very cheap "wrack your fingertips" guitar for hours until I got it. Their music has played a major role in my songwriting. Joni Mitchell's "Blue" and "Ladies of the Canyon" albums really influenced me. That's about the time I bought an old upright piano and plunked out a few tunes in my parents garage. The incredible Aretha Franklin, who can still send my soul sailing when I hear "Natural Woman". Anything Motown, I hate to lump them all together but there's so much to say about so many of those great artists; not to mention the incredible songwriting team of Holland/Dozier/Holland. Bonnie Raitt showed all of us ladies that women could actually play leads. Pointer Sisters, wow! Pink Floyd..I listened to DSOTM endlessly. At night when all of my roommates were sleeping I'd be in the livingroom laying on the floor beside the stereo listneing to those incredible sounds panning wildly into my ears thru the headphones. My most recent influence is country singer/songwriter Harley Allen. If anyone could fill Hank's shoes it'd be Harley. xJL
