About Me

v. 1.04 January, 2008
I am an independent artist who has been playing the electric guitar for over 20 years in a variety of styles, but mostly hard rock/classic rock/metal. However, I am not a fan of labels/genres, because when I'm making my music the notes don't know the difference!
I've long held interest in fusing music in the style of the great European horror, exploitation and spaghetti western soundtracks of the 1960s and 70s with my own particular style of hard rock guitar playing. When people ask me to explain what the hell this means, I tell them that my music is guided and informed by film soundtracks, but not intended as sound track music per se.

From 2004-2006 I recorded mostly instrumentals; yet from time to time, I'd do a few vocal caterwauls. Eventually I got bored and wanted a greater challenge. In 2007 I started recording story based songs which I describe as "Spaghetti Western Rock." In early 2008, I will release an EP from those sessions entitled, "The Devil Rides Out."

I don't like being pigeon-holed, so who knows what I will do next.

My main goal with music is to share it with a tiny handful of people from all over the world. And for those of you who do enjoy it, I just want to say THANK YOU. Your support inspires me to keep going and try harder, to take risks for the music.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: crap I knew there was something i forgot in 07!
Band Members:

I'm the only surviving member, the others died in a shoot out. That will teach 'em to drink my whiskey and complain about too many guitar solos.

I'm always amused when people refer to me as "guys" or think this is a band. Yes, a band of insane hombres inside my head!!!!

Anyhow, sometimes El Blondito makes sounds and I arrange the sounds into this thing called music, using as of 2008 (by category):

Electric Guitars: 12 X Fender Stratocaster (well ok, I'm not really sure how many I have anymore, but I do record with them all. Each is modified a little bit differently.), Neptune Baritone Electric, Agile 3000M, Ibanez AK 85 (jazz box, used mainly with fuzz).

Pickups: Fender, Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, Jason Lollar, Sheptone.

Effects: FOXROX, DOD, BSM, Homebrew Electronics (AZ), Electro Harmonix, BOSS and SIB.

Amplification: Marshall, Vox, Fender, Engl and RC Davis (uses Jensen speakers, made in Italy).

Steel String Guitars: Taylor 510, Tacoma Chief (pre Fender), Yamaha 12 String.

Nylon String Guitars: Raimundo and Yamaha

Bass: NAMM 1 off Fender Custom Shop (Japan) Mustang, Reissue Mustang, 90's era American Precision Bass.

Bass Amplification: SWR (pre Fender).

Drums & Percussion: Mostly programming, loops, etc. But I've been studying drums for more than 1 year now and one of these days, I reckon all hell will break loose as my skill sets merge. Tama, Zildjian, Paiste, DW. I like Vic Firth and Vater sticks. I bang a lot of things around to get strange sounds too.

Assorted : Trumpet, Harmonicas, Replica of 1873 Peacemaker, fires 9mm equivalent. (Made in Italy of course!)

Synths: Korg Karma, Korg Pa1XPro (Also Made in Italy! Do you detect a theme yet?), Roland GR-20.

MIDI: Rarely used, because soft synths don't stand up too well against analog wave forms. Roland GI-20 Midi converter for the GK-3 pickup system. I use my keyboard too, when I'm scoring traditionally.

Theremin: Moog Etherwave

Vocals: Unfortunately that's still me! hehe Notice how i put vocals towards the bottom of this list! haha

Mics: Shure, Groove Tubes, Sennheiser, AKG, Blue, EV & Rode.

Console, Rack, DAW Platform: A seemingly never ending project, by end of 2007, I'm working with a custom made, centralized recording studio with distributed KVM, audio monitoring and tracking stations. This consists of 16 Pre Sonus inputs going into a dedicated Quadcore AMD Opteron 270 (Italy) system, running Cubase SX3. The cabling alone is enough to drive anyone insane. The sessions for "The Devil Rides Out" were done with a MOTU 896 HD. It has been retired for everything but playback / mixing.

Influences:

My primary influences that come out in my music are:

Ennio Morricone, Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow), Alessandro Alessandroni, Jimmy Page, Yngwie J. Malmsteen & Bruno Nicolai.

A further list of my influences would include (in no particular order):

Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Ian Gillan (solo), Rainbow, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Jimi Hendrix (although I certainly don't play like him), Rory Gallagher, The Who, The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck, Del Shannon, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters (up to Amused to Death), Billy Joel (early), The Beatles, Paul McCartney, the Monkees (when I was 3 years old!), Neil Diamond, Kiss (only the Disco album from 1979), The Ventures, Dire Straits, soundtracks to 1970s pron films (cmon they were so underrated!), ABBA, Disco and lots of 1970s hits like Kung Fu Fighting, The Funk Brothers (Motown) David Bowie, Gypsy and Folk Music from Eastern Europe, particularly brass bands, great American television show theme songs (like The Rockford Files), Beethoven, Bach, Rachmaninoff, Richard Wagner, Strauss, Chopin, and a variety of other composers. I like a good military march!

Sounds Like: Vintage instruments being pushed off the edge of a cliff.
Record Label: Mine.
Type of Label: Indie
