Exitus acta probat-The Outcome Justifies the Deed

About Me

Participating in the mindless self-indulgence of myspace: ABOUT US, 'tis a dual profile: the basics:
The Guy: Dana Eric Williams:6'5" Scorpio/Sag Moon/Virgo Rising, born 11.11, former bassist for The Mullens (Get Hip) and Vox/Bassist, The Sunday Drunks (Deadbeat); Master designer and artisan, IT Director, Proud Pater. The Girl: Alyssa Rogers Gast Williams: 5'11 Scorpio/Sag Moon/Leo Rising, born 11.04, of CAVESTOMP! Records/CAVESTOMP! The Garage Rock Festacular in NYC, Proud Mater. We came with a bit o'scandal, made beautiful music and have a wee gem.(see the pics!).
We'll gladly add all friends/peeps played with, booked, met, etc but if we don't know you,(and on myspace it seems we almost DO know everyone, small degrees of separation!), pls leave a msg about you/your band/your art, because the friends list is monstrously overweight as it is. In the meantime listen to the music of our friends and friends of friends.
Despite the super-self-indulgent-heavy cheese of myspace, we dig being in touch w/mates the world over. We don't like: the swirly bullshitters and pretenders, those who borrow their likes and personalities from others, the wafflers, the obtuse and uptight squares, bullies, and especially ZEALOTS. We dig: those who are honest, the real deal, tolerant, progressive, quirky, original, decisive, insane, courageous, rock elitists, polarizing figures, Type A personalities, opinionated, and most assorted and generalized savants.

My Interests

Our amazing daughter Avery. Living and Loving well. Evolution. Information. Spirituality. Food! The Mind-Body Connection. Transcendentalism and Positivism. Armchair archaeology. Physics and the Laws of. The Brain.Books and MUSIC are omnipresent, multitudenous genres, see below. Dig vintage guitars and gear of all types, as incongruous as it sounds, almost ALL sports, but both ex-ballers love hoops most, with tennis right behind,People who push boundries and aren't afraid of success, Cynicism and Sarcasm, Extra Dry wit/humor, good banter, scandal, fearlessness, salaciousness and on the flip side, gourmet vittles: Dana's or by way of zagat, ethnic grub:thai, indian, sushi lead the list. Always appreciating a good wine, top notch spirits, vaguely defined intellectual pursuits, travel, ancient history, literature, innovative and exceptional Art, Architecture, & Furniture(Bauhaus/Le Corbusier/etc), the Art of the Photo, Extreme Alternatives, philosophy, computer wonderment and the latest technologies, reviling, debating, analyzing, pondering. All accompanied by large does of RnR, both kinds. We've been there, done that, and might do that again, but life in this lane is amazingly nice and we're up for any adventure and travel that comes our way.

I'd like to meet:

Setting aside impossible abstracts,(like meeting the deceased) we're lucky, we usually meet who we should meet in the Universe, but always actively seeking other companionate journeymen into the nether regions of the mind accompanied by COMMON SENSE, a rarity as well as Independently Minded Parents avoiding the status quo. People who rock musically, mentally and artistically usually come our way regardless.
Play it! MC5, American Ruse, 1970 ..

Music:

Gotta have it! Dana's Bands: The Mullens (Get Hip), Sunday Drunks (Deadbeat). Alyssa's Bands: All of the CAVESTOMP! Alumni, participants and their relatives and descendants. Friends bands of course. Musica universalis. Myriad assorted genres. Most prevalently played: straight up rocknroll, extremely obscure sixties, modpsyche and pure psychedelia, garage, punk rock old school/some new school some lo-fi, wee bits of indie, surf, etc. Dig the odd excellent metal band, really old country, real blues, real soul, funk, jazz, reggae, early 80's postpunk, dark early gothic, classical and a slew of artists completely undefinable by genre. Couldn't live without our Mantra band: There's no way to go thru the amalgamation of collections: 2,000+ albums, CD's, singles, etc and adequately list our faves.

Movies:

Not gonna list all, genre encapsulates more than a mere list. Suffice to say, Independent, Foreign, Great Classics, Groovy Sixties flix, (such as)

the odd arthouse gem. Non-awful Experimental, sane Documentaries. Predominately avoid most of today's offerings in mainstream cinema with the rare exception. Special hall of fame vote is: This is Spinal Tap

Television:

JUST SAY NO to the idiot box, with a few exceptions via satellite... select sporting events, we're NBA fiends, dig sporty offerings such as the Tennis Channel, ESPN/ESPN2, MNF, Ovation channel, love "Curb Your Enthusiasm", History Channel/Int'l, Nat'l Geo/Discovery Science/Times, Travel Channel, Animal Planet for Avery, etc, PBS, (any revelatory scientific programming on any channel). BBCA, (we're selectively hardcore Anglophiles), old Prisoner or Avenger's episodes, Anthony Bourdain, (a fave) Chappelle, IFC if the night is right. Bravo reality on occasion. PTI/Around the Horn on ESPN, International newscasts via LINK absolutely ROCK, and for chillin' the NASA channel. Waiting for the next Chappelle offering and a progressive non-Disney kiddie show. Anything that will push the proverbial envelope. Abhor network TV with an unmitigated passion.

Books:

The library is huge. Succinctness is difficult. The condensed vers 1.1: LOADS of current non-fic commentary, a multiplicity of texts, History of...Rome, Egypt, Greece, Europe, Byzantium, Mesopotamia; also scads of Paganism, Medieval, Renaissance, Reformation, Counter-Reformation, some Georgian, and on and on. *Historical and strange fiction* Theological texts. Philosopher junction from Aristotle and Plato to Kant, Emerson, Thoreau, you name it, we've got it. Architecture both classical & modern, Art, both classical & modern. Occult studies various non-negative forms including Astrological studies, alternative spiritualities and varied religious tomes (Kabbalah, Tibetan/Egyptian Books of the Dead, etc),Joseph Campbell, Dostoyevsky, Vonnegut, Kerouac, Sartre, Kafka, Legs, PJ, Hunter S., Burroughs and their ilk, Realistic historical fiction, real lit, social commentary, bios/autobios, The Bard, Cicero, Livy, and on and on ad infinitum. If it's written, we like to read it. At least once. We're fanatical.

Heroes:

That's quite a strong word, hero. Admire Lovers & Fighters.
Marcus Antonius&Cleopatra VII, John & Yoko.

"Misspeaking"

One of the reasons I think I’d make one hell of an astronaut is that I can recall that one time, cruising space, when I kept my cool under sniper fire from martians. Oh, wait, it didn’t re...
