KNYTE is all about the strong black fistA Canton, Ohio native started writing in the 90's as a way to express herself emotionally without being verbally interrupted. Influenced by the flow of rap, she pursued a rap career only to find myself falling into an IMAGE of Battle Rapping-trying to be what she was not...hardcore. It was not until Peas n-da-Pod saw KNYTE rapping at Five Points in downtown Atlanta that she was invited to do an open- mic at the "Patti Hut" in 1997. KNYTE states that, 'Poetry embraced me and allowed me to be me wholeheartedly".Since that time KNYTE has been heard on the airwaves 89.3 and V103, in Atlanta, GA. Performed on public & cable TV presently the host of Neo Soul a spoken word variety show for the people NEO -SOUL airs on Comcast Cable's People TV. KNYTE performs at a host of different schools, nursing homes and has also done weekly shows at Jefferson Place Emergency Men's Shelter. KNYTE was one of the opening poets for Roy Ayers and have featured at the Apache Café, 515, The Rialto Theater, Club 20 Grand and The Royal Peacock-just to name a few. She has also performed open mic at the Patti Hut, Jaguars, Verbal Slick, MoorEpics Poetry Planet, Club Fuel, The Musician's Club, Mecca and almost every open mic within the Metropolitan Atlanta area.Concrete-life issues, street life, love, relationships, children and daily conversations are writing inspirations and influences for KNYTE.
