I'm really busy playing with Cover Up playing rock you wanna dance to. Rather than using the cumbersome MySpace event section, I'm listing my gigs here, and if you want details about a particular venue, see my VENUES blog above.

Sister is a band of which I have very fond memories ('93-'97). Just Say was one of several original tunes we did. Lisa Taylor (see my Favs below) penned the lyrics, smacked the drums and sang the back-up vox. Her sister, Dana Connor , kicked the pants off the lead vox, and Lisa's husband Jim thumped bass and Steve Long cranked guitar. Smokin song. Sure miss those glory days. But I'm not sitting still.

It was annoying to have to pick which 4 to put up here. it's like, which is your favorite child? =/
Here's a great version of "Your Are Here" with vocals , I've got that up on GarageBand. Jimmie Bonner (Tidewater, VA, last I saw him) did some great lyrics and vocals.
I've lived mostly in the Northern Virginia area, but have played in bands based in Steamboat Springs, CO; San Francisco, CA; and the Virginia Tidewater area; and I've played in clubs from San Antonio to Inianapolis and from Los Angeles to Ocean City, MD.
I love to just sit and play the piano at my church when no one is there. The acoustics are awesome, and it pulls some interesting kind of new age stuff out of my head. But I also like to rock.
Music to me is like a cosmic river that is always flowing past. Sometimes I dip into it, and sometimes it floods me out. But I'd much rather have it than not. I guess it's sort of like sight -- some people are blind, some see the light dimly and others are overwhelmed (like Diane Warren).
on the serious tip:

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: utopia4all.org
Band Members: Just Say:
Dana Connor: lead vox
Lisa Taylor: drums, back vox (lyrics)
Jim Taylor: bass
Steve Long: guitar
Gordon Johnson: keys, way back vox

All other songs:
All instruments (sequenced Keys): Gordon Johnson
(except Learning To Fly drum loop borrowed from Casio keyboard)
I want to do my songs live so I'm searching for the right people. The drummer's gonna be groove oriented with the ability to add spice artfully. The bass player's gonna thump like godzilla and weave like a water snake. The guitar player's rhythm will hop like Tiggr or crank like a well oiled machine and the leads will move with grace and agility like a dolphin. The singing will gently reach into your chest and heal your heart one minute, and the next will launch you skyward like a taut trampoline.
Influences:Basically, all over the map. Raised on classical -- Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovski, Chopin, Lizt, Rachmaninov, Bach, Brahms, Debussy Rock / Pop -- Sarah McLachlan , Beatles , Joni Mitchell , Chicago , Michelle Branch , Dan , Lovin' Spoonful , C S N Y , Counting Crows , Five for Fighting , Led Zeppelin , Lynyrd Skynyrd , Gavin McGraw , Two Ton Shoe (Boston is so lucky), Lisa Taylor , Edgar and Johnny Winter, Pure Prairie League , The Monkeys (eek, eek! 1st pop/rock album), Santana (shows how one note can make a solo), Yes , Little Feat , Doobie Bros. , Bryan Adams , Cream/ Eric Clapton , Allman Bros. , Nine Inch Nails , Stone Temple Pilots , Dan Reed Network (fansite: all mp3s) , Genesis / Phil Collins / Peter Gabriel , The Romantics , Loggins & Messina , New Country -- Rascal Flatts , Keith Urban (may he stay sober), Sarah Evans , Alan Jackson , Ricky Skaggs , Jo Dee Messina , Lonestar , Martina McBride R&B -- JAMES BROWN (RIP LA & Baby Face , Anita Baker , Pointer Sisters , Billy Preston (RIP Mariah Carey , Paula Abdul , Aretha Franklin , Stevie Wonder , Sly and the Family Stone , Tower of Power , Bobbie Brown, Lionel Richie , Luther VanDross (RIP Chaka Khan , Whitney Houston Jazz -- Dixie Dregs / Steve Morse , Weather Report / Joe Zawinul , Alan Holdsworth , Pat Metheny , Louis Armstrong , Glenn Miller , Mills Brothers , Andrews Sisters

Choose to choose? What the heck is that about?

Life is short -- most of us won't see 90. Doesn't it make sense that we should be able to live a "best life possible" and choose for ourselves what we want, especially since human harnessing of energy...
