Sky Dix is a 24 year old singer songwriter from the foothills of Western Massachusetts. She lived her younger years in the Boston area where her mother worked as a journalist and her father was a rocket scientist and archaeoastronomer. Sky and her mother eventually moved to the Pioneer Valley. Sky was home schooled and her mother worked as a Unitarian Universalist Church Administrator. Sky has been musical (believe it or not..) ever since she was an infant. Both her parents were musicians. Her father was a blues guitarist/singer, and her mother was a drummer/singer. Sky started playing piano and writing songs at the age of 6. Sky picked up the guitar at the age of ten and started playing dedicatedly ever since. Her songs are emotional and deep. She writes about growing up, love, death, and dreams. Her voice is smooth and resonant with a bluesy rock influence. She has been recording off and on for the last ten years. Style wise, it would have to be called alternative folk, although her sound is very different and is difficult to compare with other voices.
Sky grew up listening to Bonnie Raitt, The Indigo Girls, REM, Paul Simon and Enya etc. And was very involved in organizing live performances with her mother who ran a local coffee house at the U.U. church.
Sky's hobbies and interests are in education, politics, wine, food, horse back riding and instructing, conference coordinating, performing, philanthropy, drawing, collecting coins and rocks, reading Harry Potter, watching movies, human services, women's rights, yoga, swimming, biking, shopping, and hanging out.
Sky's biggest dream is to make music that is liked around the world, to someday go to school for viticulture and enology and become a philanthropist.
