Since 1903, Bideawee has been dedicated to a simple mission: to shelter and care for homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted. Bideawee -- the name comes from a Scottish phrase for "stay a while" -- is one of the nation's oldest and most respected humane organizations.

Find your perfect dog and cat at one of our three locations - Manhattan, Wantagh and Westhampton. Bideawee staff will help you find your match.

Have a pet already? Bideawee has two low-cost veterinary clinics (Manhattan and Westhampton). We also have dog trainers and behaviorist at each site that offer training classes and behavior consultation. Wantagh is even opening a new Learning Center for pets and kids. Bideawee also has two pet cemetaries located in Long Island and a Retirement Home for Pets in Westhampton - Golden Years Retirement Home.

WANTED: a good home for VIOLA!

Hi, I'm Viola.

This cat carrier was left open in my "resort" room at Bideawee. I hopped right on in and made myself comfortable. I thought, FINALLY, someone is going to adopt me! Turns out, they were just dropping off my friend Emily (she’s very confident and loves to rough-house – now that’s my kind of cat!).

I’m also famous for slipping through doors when no one is watching. Can you blame me for being proactive in finding a home?

My last family abandoned me and my three kittens – they just moved out and left us to fend on our own! So I’ve been an orphan since June last year. People tend to overlook me; I’m just your average two year old. But I love to play and show off my silly personality! Is it too much to ask for a home to call my own?

Viola gets KOOKIE! Adopt her today!
