L.I.C.K. otherwise known as the Long Island Cat & Kitten is a collective effort of multiple people to help other organizations with the Feral Cat problem on Long Island. We support organizations like The Long Island Cat Project and the Stony Brook Cat Network. We strive to bring their knowledge to others and help control the Feral Cat population on Long Island.
Upon moving into an apartment complex in Coram we found that the cat problem was not just one effecting large establishments and businesses, but one that effects each and every community.
Our Mission: We are currently gathering kittens in our complex and helping to keep them fed until we can find them a home and a family. In the summer months it is difficult for shelters to keep up with the many litters that are born, so individuals must aid in their efforts. Once our current litters are adopted we are going to move onto the Mothers. Many of the cats here in our complex were abandoned by previous owners and are therefor...Not strays. They are extremely affectionate and very fond of people. We plan to take these cats to local lost cost spay/neuter clinics and then find them homes. For the males that are too tempermental to be adopted we will release them back into their colonies with tipped ears so they can be identified.
There are many supplies and hands that are needed to successfully undertake such a project so any help is always greatly appreciated. We can always use food, bedding, cages, and assistance in trapping, financing spay/neutering, and of course finding them homes.
