~ TPR is making it happen! (Part 7)

~ Brett & Rob’s California Adventure! (Part 2)

The Popcorn Review (TPR) began as a whimsical idea in Sept. 2006. The idea dawned on Robert Haines and Brett Hunt –whilst sitting in a theater, of course– that we watch entirely too many movies and that we should start writing reviews. Upon agreement, we soon thereafter met with our good friend Shawn “the girl” Murray –who’s an awesome artist– and together we had another idea; we should start our very own webcomic that pokes fun at Hollywood, celebrities, pop culture, and ourselves! So Shawn became the third founder/owner of TPR. That was our humble origin – and from that day forth we have had one wild, unending, fun-filled ride…
We started on MySpace, but have since expanded via several syndication partners across the US and Canada, we have a weekly radio spot on 103.7 BOB FM, we published our first official comic book, our comics have been featured on G4 TV's Attack of the Show, and we’ve been a huge hit at the various conventions we go to. TPR is only one year old and we’re already reaching an audience of about 300,000 people / month with our movie reviews – and we’re just getting started! We have some big plans in the works…
Robert Haines and Brett Hunt recently moved out to Los Angeles, CA. Robert aspires to become a famous comedian and Brett aspires to become a famous actor. Shawn is going to keep her headquarters in Seattle, WA, and along with continuing to do our webcomic she has several other artistic projects in the works. In addition, together we’re planning on creating a TV show, which we’re going to pitch to Comedy Central; get into quite a bit more radio work; publish some additional comic books; plus we have several major side-projects at the moment, which are coming along nicely. TPR is Makin’ It Happen!
So stay tuned…

Music:

Robert: I really like rock, rapcore, alternative, punk and ethnic fusion, but am not a fan of country or gangsta rap. I like bands such as Chumbawamba, Alanis Morissette, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Eminem, Nine Inch Nails, System of a Down, Green Day, Korn, Kelly Clarkson, Tenacious D, Bon Jovi, and Blue October.
Brett: I am a fan of all types of music from classical, rock, rap, hip hop, jazz, opera, etc. I don’t care too much for country/western however I can tolerate it in small doses. Some of my top favorite bands include: Linkin Park, Fleetwood Mac, Kid Rock, Shakira, Dr. Dre, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, The Doors, BTO, KISS, ACDC, and of course Weird Al Yankovic.

Movies:

Robert: I've seen WAY too many movies, but some of my favorites are Braveheart, Howard Stern: Private Parts, Ever After: A Cinderella Story, The Lord of the Rings, The Princess Bride, The Matrix (just the 1st one), Mean Girls, The Mating Habits of Earthbound Humans, Ghostbusters, Spiderman, Batman Begins, Queen of the Damned, Shrek, Commando, and Serenity.
Brett: Some of my favorites are Star Wars (all of them). Lord of the Rings (Jackson rules), Braveheart, The Gladiator, Rudy, A Few Good Men, Serenity, Pirates of the Caribbean, Oceans 11 and 12, A Knight’s Tale, Ever After, Heavy Metal, A Boy and His Dog, Casablanca and Batman Begins.

Television:

Robert: Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, South Park, The Simpsons, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, The Apprentice, The Red Green Show, Malcolm in the Middle, Supernatural, How I Met Your Mother, Mind of Mencia, The Man Show, Drawn Together, and Las Vegas.
Brett: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI (Vegas, NY, Miami), Law & Order SVU, Firefly, Without a Trace, Dr. Who, The History Channel, and The Simpsons.

Books:

Robert: I really don't read much because I read really slow and it takes me forever (which is why I like movies), but of the books I've read, my favorites are Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code, Deception Point, Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind.
Brett: While I have very few “favorite” books other than The lord of the rings, The Elric series, and the Anita vampire slayer series, I do have some favorite authors who I read almost everything they put out: John Maxwell, Robert Kiyosaki, Dilbert, and Winnie the Pooh.

Heroes:

The bold men and women in the film, TV, music and other entertainment industries that make all the magic happen and that keep us entertained, inspired, enthralled, amazed, enraptured and lovin' life!
