Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books ..My name is Rick Diaz and I was born on Manhattan Island, New York. My father and mother are from Puerto Rico and came to this country in the late 40's I, was born in 1957 and I am one of eleven children. My youth was spent day dreaming and stuck to the big screen. I grew up watching movies with my dad like, Red River with John Wayne, Boys Town, Mickey Rooney, The Dead End Kids, and my all time favorite however has to be Casablanca, Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Casablanca was one of about fifty movies the studio would put out back in those days and was never ever thought of to be a classic that is has turned into today. This is one movie they have tried to remake and have never been able to capture that 1944’s era. I came up through a time when WWII was still on the lips of the old and Korea had ended and the country was rebuilding and repopulating :o). This country went through two quite significant times before I was born and I felt it in the stories that were fresh on the minds of them that were there. I missed the 60’s and even though I was a young boy, it broke my heart when John F. Kennedy died, but I lived in the aftermath of it through the 70’s when I found myself joining the United States Marine Corps and scared to death at 17 wondering if they were going to send me to Viet Nam. I survived the USMC and was pretty much what Mr. Bogart so eloquently put it; I am a “Drunkard”. Watch the movie and find the definition for yourself, before you go thinking I am an Alcoholic. :o) In 1996 I opened Diaz Karate and met and taught some of the most fascinating adults and children over the course of ten years and had the opportunity to travel to South Korea. In May 2006 I closed my labor of love, and loved it I did and still do; I love movies, I all ways have. When we were kids I would make my brothers and sisters laugh and try to be the guy in the house, the entertainer by learning how to talk like Donald Duck and playing out parts of movies with my little brother like James Cagney, Pat O’Brien and Humphrey Bogart in Angels With Dirty faces and had a need to be center of attention. lol They let me have my moments! People are amazing and have so much to offer if given a chance. Look inwards to see the truths of people. I have learnd that when I have judge someone, I have judged myself. The only way one sees faults in others is because we recognized ourselves in this person, our short comings and even maybe our demons; I believe this is the reason why I've judged, we don’t even like ourselves some times, so we take it out on others.
