PINAR BASGOZE

Dedicated teacher, active solo and chamber music performer, Pinar Basgöze was born and raised in Turkey. Started her piano studies when she was 10 upon being accepted by Ankara State Conservatory. She received her B.A degree in 1994 and her M.A degree in 1997 in piano performance.
Upon meeting Turkish pianist Hüseyin Sermet in May 1997, she was invited to his Master Class organized in Corsica, France within the framework of "Musicales d'Ajaccio Festival". Following that summer, she won the third prize in "The British Council The Young Musician of the Year Competition" in 1998 and earned a scholarship to study with Professor Maria Curcio Diamand in London, England in 1999.
Pinar came to the United States to continue her studies in Piano Performance with Dr. Paul Shaw and in Piano Pedagogy with Dr. Rebecca Shockley at the University of Minnesota.
She was a piano teaching assistant and a string instruments coach throughout the years of 1994 to 1998 at Ankara State Conservatory. Her critiques and essays on classical music are published in the column named "Sensations" in the newspaper "Black and White" in Ankara, Turkey. She appeared for live interviews and performances for the classical music broadcasts on the Turkish Radio and Television (TRT). She was appointed as an individual and a class piano instructor at the University of Minnesota School of Music from 2002 to 2005.
She was invited to perform two sets of solo piano compositions by Turkish composer and pianist Fazil Say for the Balkanicus; "the Third Balkan Solo and Chamber Contemporary Music Festival" held at University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN in Spring 2005.
Pinar worked at East Metro Music Academy, St. Paul, MN as a group and an individual piano instructor between March 2006 and November 2007. She has been teaching at St. Joseph School of Music, St. Paul since June 2005 and at MacPhail Center for Music, Minneapolis since November 2007 as one of the piano faculty members.
Pinar Basgöze is a member of "Lexias-Cerana Piano Duo".
