With almost a decade of experience behind the decks, and a lifetime background in Music, Mike Henderson aka DJ Endo, has become an ambassador of the true art form of DJing. From super clubs and massive festivals, to smokey warehouse raves and intimate clubs, Endo always turns it out like none other with his nonstop soundtrack of breaks from all over the spectrum.
At a very young age Endo played drums and guitar for Hardcore and Punk bands. In 1999 he was introduced to electronic music and was immediately hooked on the sounds of Breakbeats and breakbeat culture. With years of percussion under his belt, Endo's knack for breaks progressed and so did his collection of records. Endo began playing out in 2001 and it wasn't too long before he was playing prime time slots at some of the most high profile events in the Northeast USA. Throughout his years of DJing, Endo has played hundreds of events and has had the pleasure of playing with some of the most respected names in the music industry including DJ Craze, Roc Raida, Snoop Doggy Dogg, DJ Hyper, Aut0bots, Screwface, Napt, Deekline & Wizard, Jackyl and Hyde, Goldie, Hive, DJ Icey, Baby Anne, General Midi, Bassnectar, Danny the Wildchild, Donald Glaude, DJ Funk, Anabolic Frolic, Adam X, Space Girl, D:Fuse, Micro, John B, Lenny Dee, Delta 9, Rob Gee, Dave the Drummer, etc.
In 2002 Endo started his own college radio show, "Graveyard Breaks," on 90.1 WRUV FM (Burlington, VT). Every week he hauled in a carload of records for an 8-hour breaks marathon that kicked off at midnight and didn't end until 8a.m., which built Endo's craft in mastering the art of programming sets. Over the years of DJing, Endo has gained popularity from his numerous mix releases that are listened to by electronic music enthusiasts all over the world. Some of his most popular mixes include "Graveyard Shift," which was the most downloaded mix on GSP Magazine, of which he has been affiliated with for nearly a decade. Also, Endo is known for his annual Valentines Day Mix, "Chemistry," and other mixes such as "Blessed Breaks," and most recently "REDLINE!" Drum and Bass mix. Endo has also done countless Internet radio mixes for stations such as Ibreaks, Breaks FM, and Techno.FM.
In May of 2005, Endo co-founded and was a resident DJ at Blessed Breaks (RIP), a monthly breakbeat event held in Burlington, VT, at Club Metronome, which later took on new members and became "Sanctuary." Both events introduced Vermont's humble electronic music scene to some of the best DJÃs in the industry including DJ Monk, Simply Jeff, DJ Venom, Reid Speed, Odi, Control Z, DJ Quest, Deep Impact, ED209, Baobinga, Michael Wenz and Wavewhore.
Endo is currently a resident DJ for various events at the Winter Music Conference (WMC) including Future Sound Of Breaks, Essential Breaks, Tastemakers Of Breaks and Project Mayhem. He is also a resident for Phoenix Management in Pittsburgh, PA; Massive Munnkey Productions in West Virginia and Ravers Only in New York.
In 2004, following his musical dreams, Endo enrolled at the Berklee College of Music where he was classically trained in the art of electronic music production and sound design, graduating with a Bachelors in Music Synthesis. During his four years at Berklee he not only interned for Satellite Records and worked for Club Avalon in Boston, but he invented a new system of Harmonic DJ Mixing for his final project. At the time, Harmonic Mixing was already known, but Endo took it to the next level and discovered a way to mix Harmonically without using key lock. This system is based around the circle of fifths, and involves playing songs that are in the same or complimenting keys to create mixes that sing together. Yet another tool used in Endo's party rocking.
Endo is currently the East Coast DJ Product Specialist for Native Instruments, training DJ gurus Grandmaster Flash, DJ Skribble, Slynkee, Victor Calderone and Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia on programs Traktor Scratch and Traktor 3. In addition to training, Endo hosts Traktor clinics at various music stores and trade shows such as NAMM and Remix Hotel in Miami, FL. He is also the Tour Manager and DJ Technician for Dubfire of Deep Dish who is one of the top 10 DJ's in the world. You can catch Endo taking control of the DJ booth at select Dubfire events around the globe.
From new mixes and original track releases to a full tour schedule, much can be expected from Endo in 2008. Stay locked for new developments and updates on www.myspace.com/djendo and www.myspace.com/djendomashup.
