Together they are one of the foremost production outfits in electronic music with a dizzying array of club smashing hits such as ‘One In The Front’ with DJ Assault and ‘Steam’ with DJ Fresh. SPLITLOOP 'PLEASURE MACHINE' BLOWING UP!:
Splitloop are back with a killer new album 'Pleasure Machine' which is out now. Dipping their toes into numerous styles of electronic music has certainly paid off for the guys. 'Pleasure Machine' has a velvety sheen, touching on modern sexy D. Ramirez-type electro-house, juddery Justice riddims, old skool electro, Plumpy breaks and a hell of a lot more. There's a consistency to their sound that glazes the whole album - sexy electronic dance music that'll be rocking floors from Brighton to Beijing, quite simply 'Pleasure Machine' is bang on the money. Accumulating all the tools to soundtrack a fantastic night out, the Splitloop guys have set the dials for pleasure. The touring that's going to be accompanying this album is going to bring them into contact with a whole new set of pleasure-seeking individuals. Splitloop are philosophical about their early career. "Our first studio had a broken toilet, so everything smelled like piss," they remember. "We could never afford monitors 'cos all our money went on pills and beer. As soon as we gave up pills, we bought monitors and got signed."
"The groove of Simian Mobile Disco or The Plump DJs...the soundtrack the summerâ€
5/5 – Album Of The Month – DJ Mag
“This is the act I am putting my money on for the near future.â€
– Annie Nightingale, BBC Radio 1
“These guys are set to blow upâ€
– Plump DJ’s on Radio One
ED SOLO & SKOOL OF THOUGHT:
If you had to list the top 10 hottest DJ / producers in breaks over the past 12 months, Ed Solo and Skool of Thought would be dead certs for a podium finish. Hotter than an aerobics class held in a sauna with the central heating cranked up to the max, both have individually cemented a reputation for laying down insane tracks and killer DJ sets across the globe. Since joining forces, however, they have provided a host of huge singles, including 'When I Was a Yout,' 'Love Your Life' and 'Babylon Breaks', along with the thundering remixes of Groove Armada's 'Superstylin' and Freestylers v Pendulum 'Painkiller' which have seen them in high demand for production work as well as for DJing. Their debut album 'Random Acts Of Kindness' has whipped up a press frenzy with DJ Mag, IDJ, Knowledge, EQ, Beatmag and lots more all printing features on this dynamic duo!
KRAFTY KUTS:
Krafty Kuts is resident DJ at SuperCharged and when he's not touring the world he can be found spinning the latest tunes on a Wednesday at Audio in Brighton. Krafty Kuts 'Freakshow' album was recently released to critical aclaim, scooping 'BEST ALBUM' at the 2007 Breakspoll Awards and 'ALBUM OF THE MONTH' in DJ magazine. From the dripping acid strut of the album’s first single ‘Bass Phenomenon’, to the ‘slap the cheeks and ride the waves’ booty bass of ‘There They Go’ - ‘Freakshow’ is a gumbo of musical styles. ‘Keep Moving’ mixes Yolanda’s epic choral laments with a bassline reminiscent of Adam F’s ‘Smash Sumthin’, ‘Tell Me How You Feel’ is a summer smash from the bars to the beaches, while ‘Freakshow’ sounds like Prince making love to a vocoder and ‘We Do This’ has the sort of grimey, pig-sty bassline, that’ll leave head-nodders with whiplash. Look out for Krafty Kuts 'Back To Mine' CD coming out in early 2008.
FREESTYLERS:
Another huge project for Against The Grain has been the release of the Freestylers forth artist album 'Adventures In Freestyle' which saw the breakbeat superstars team up with Pendulum to produce "Painkiller", one of the biggest tunes in dance music during 2006. However, those expecting an album of straight up breaks may be in for a surprise, as ‘Adventures…’ packs its compass and Kendall Mint Cake and takes the listener on a trip spanning soul, hip hop, funk, disco and even rock!
