"baba larriji"

About Me

Experimental musician since childhood. Founding member of the influential mid-eighties post-industrial noise group Thessalonians with Kim Cascone and David James. Tabla student since 1986. Studied under Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri at the Ali Akbar College of Music, learning north Indian classical music. Founded Thrasher Qawwal in 1987, the first English qawwali project dedicated to his long time guru Meher Baba. Collaborator since 1993 with Gensis P-Orridge in Psychic TV, Splinter Test, and Thee Majesty. Spent over five years as principle Pro tools editor and engineer for dj Cheb i Sabbah for the acclaimed Shri Durga and Krishna Lila projects. It was Cheb i Sabbah that dubbed Thrasher "baba larriji" a name Thrasher uses as his new music and remix moniker. Currently in the studio producing OM7 with Michael Campagna doing the music for Pulitzer Prize and Grammy nominated poet extraordinaire Michael C Ford. Parallel to his many music projects Thrasher is also producing several film/video documentary projects that are slated for release in 2007.
