About Me

Popular Computer™ is the musical project lead by Sylvain Dalido, Parisian and sole master on board, but who, yet, insists in sharing credits of his compositions with his computer. A duo with blurred outlines that musically celebrates a new form of an assumed and elegant nerdism, a fantasy of a professional, social and artistic existence, simplified by technology.
The story begins in 1999 with the purchase of his first Personal Computer. Fascinated by the wide possibilities, DALIdo gives up his bass and guitar and gives himself over to the joys of the computer composition. He quickly decides to impose himself the most strict and basic configuration : a PC, a sound card and an old amp. This will be the formal context in which all the music of Popular Computer will be produced.
The first compositions were put into circulation in 2002. The format is definitely club, but the pop influence is clearly audible and subjects such as love, frustration, time passing by too swiftly are already recurrent. Amongst some of his tracks, I Can't Forget You catches the ears of the duo Tiefschwarz who adds it to their compilation of mixes Misch Masch.
The title got released shortly after on vinyl at the Parisian label Kitsuné which will take his future productions, spread over on their famous compilations. A good few remixes cap it all. Whether it is for Mylo or for others, the musical world of Popular Computer keeps on becoming refined and revives the futuristic promesses of the past decades with nostalgia and modernity.
