Kim French

Kim French Canadian singer songwriter guitarist Kim E. French has played and toured throughout the Midwest with several bands, including Suav.., TomBoiz and The Noiz, Az-U-R and Fixtion. Her voice has been compared to Ann Wilson of Heart, Melissa Etheridge, and Pat Benatar.
Many news articles have been written about Kim French around central Michigan. For example, a 1997 article appeared in the newspaper "Jam Rag", Detroit's community music magazine. The author known simply as Grace wrote of a performance by Kim French and her band at the Raven Club:
Kim French is clearly not only a solo act, but a wonderfully orchestrated, supportive group effort. By my measure, Kim French is a success story - and one more point for the girrrls! She has managed to complete a very slick cd, with a 13-piece band (including Kim French, Keith Fleetwood, Betti Kern, and ten other project partners and contracted musicians. The music mixes grungy rock guitars, glistening acoustic and 12-string guitars, heavy rock drums, and an assortment of support instruments including piano, xylophones, harmonica, harp, brass, reeds and synthesizers.
With a folksinger's voice and the soul of a rocker, French has married the two styles with listener-friendly comfort. That same friendly energy translates clearly through her performance.
The real sparks in this Raven show fly behind French from stage left to stage right, as the observers' attention is volleyed between the electric presence of multi-instrumentalists Betti Kern and Keith Fleetwood, and bassist Sheila Brown. French's co-producer, co-writer and fiery guitarist Keith Fleetwood, and the truly kinetic Sheila Brown keep your toes tapping with their constant interactive enthusiasm.
Kim is a founding and ongoing member of the band "Fixtion", pronounced FIK'-shun, which continues to write and record songs.
