The Making

We are all beggars, each in his own way (M. Twain)

About Me

The Making has been around since the late summer/early fall of 2006. The original line-up was Björn Danielson bass, Michael Bratell guitar and vocal, and PeA Uvesten on drums. Björn is a native of the the town of Motala , and PeA stems from Skövde , both of them being smaller cities in the inner parts of Sweden. The band resides in the "gigantic metropolis" of Göteborg where Michael has been born and raised. Björn and Michael had been playing together during the year 2005 together with drummer Mikael Säwström and guitar player Thomas Fridner. They had been working as a loosely constructed musical unit trying out different ideas in the comfort of Michael's own studio. Michael and Björn eventually started focusing on a particular type of songs Michael had been writing, to which Björn's style of playing seemed especially well suited. The music sounded a little bit like Neil Young , but perhaps with a little twist of lemon, coupled with a steady bassline... For these songs a new drummer with a different style was drafted and the initial line-up was completed. After playing with Michael and Björn, drummer Mikael Säwström went on to form Silver Phantoms the following year together with his longtime friends Mathias Sernerud and Christian Lagerstedt. Thomas Fridner has been working on singer/songwriter material for his project called Tree Museum.
After trying out the new material together with PeA on drums a seven song demo saw the light of day. And after the band name The Making was coined by PeA, the songs where spread over parts of the internet. At the end of 2006, The Making got the attention of upSweden music community, and where offered some gigs and help with promotion. They have also recieved positive reviews from professionals and plain music lovers who have visited their MySpace and homepage . The Making is currently on a VIP promo, which upSweden is using to spread the word about the bands currently featured in their roster. After playing a couple of live shows in Göteborg , adding Frida Andersson on backing vocals and Bojan Sevic on guitar to their line-up, The Making decided to add Frida as a steady member of the band. A new string of material is currently in the process of being written and recorded for the purpose of highlighting a new vocal collaboration between PeA, Frida and Michael. Michael is usually overdubbing harmony vocals in the studio, and with PeA and Frida, The Making has the ability to perform three-part harmonies in front of an audience.
Also, Andreas Ågren has recently replaced Björn Danielsson on bass. The band however still regards Björn or "Bjohr" as they prefer to call him, as a founding member and something of a mascot for the band, and while "Bjohr" isn't working with his band Lorelai , there still might be some musical collaboration in the future. Andreas Ågren and Michael Bratell are both former members of Three More Wheels , a trio with Magnus Wahlgren on drums. Magnus wahlgren and Michael Bratell have formed Hands of Doom , and have recently played their first live show, toghether with Martin Ekberg on bass and Yves Pejkovic on sampler. Martin Ekberg, Henrik von Harten, and Esben Willems are members of Tractor Lab , yet another band in the upSweden musical universe. More live shows are scheduled for The Making this summer, and new material is being finalized. So keep in touch and keep yourself posted about livedates and new songs preferably through this page or the band's official and somewhat obsolete website!
