Koichi Sakai is DJ, Producer as well as PR man of "b i p o l a r" productions ( www.bipolar-hq.com ) and COMMODO DEPOT INC ( www.commododepot.com ). His music selection is Jazzy and percussive, playing unique but smooth mix from Swing Jazz and Soul to Funk, Latin, Afrobeat, Nu Jazz and Deep House.He was born in Tokyo and arrived in UK 1999 after backpacking 2 years USA, Australia, South East Asia, India and Africa where he had experienced global music and culture.In 1999, there was club night called Bemsha at Notting Hill Arts Club, which Nathan Haines performed weekly Jazz/West London Beats session and that inspired and lead him to meet a lot of musicians and artists.In 2002, he became resident DJ of club night African Eggs at East Londons The Spitz. He played Afro Funk, Afro-Beats along with fusion jazz band MDQ for 6 month.In 2003, he started his own night Ghetto Lounge (www.ghettolounge.com) at Cafe1001 and Troy Bar. He had organized incredible live sessions with artists such as Robert Mitchell, Zena Edwards, Mpho Skeef, Lo-Tek HiFi, Lyric L, Belleruche and more. Ghetto Lounge is becoming renowned as a unique and superb night out in London.In 2005 Ghetto Lounge set back to Cafe1001 and still presenting the very best in Soul, Jazz, Funk, Reggae, Afro and Latin vibes on every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month.
Plus Koichi spins regulary for "b i p o l a r" monthly party on every 1st Friday at Salmon & Compass. See details as below;
