About Me

DJ / PRODUCER
Kinelle (aka. DJ Release) is one of the most respected DJ’s on the northern club circuit. Never afraid to stray in to the musically unknown his sets remain fresh and floor filling where he’ll play anything from Techno to House through to D&B or Breaks.
His DJ career began back in 1992 on two belt driven turntables that he shared with friends, from this meagre beginning he soon discovered he had a real love for DJing and wanted to take it further.
Over the next few years Phil started to develop his own unique style, following many succsessfull house parties, his first ever club set was at The Bluenote, Todmorden and went down a storm. A few years of hard graft saw DJ Release perform all over the north of England, you would often find him at the free party scene featuring and headlining at events organised by Fifth Element, Mayhem, Loose Grooves and Ouch!
Around the turn of the Millenium Phil decided to turn his hand to music production. With this in mind he set about converting his basement into a studio, complete with sound proofing. He had barely played his first few chords before disaster struck - A torrential down pour in August 2004 coupled with other untimely occurrences caused the studio to fill up with 3ft of water damaging vinyl, equipment and rendering the room itself totally unfit for use.
Undeterred by this, over the next 4-6 months Phil rebuilt the studio to a higher standard than previously and started producing once more.
I was lucky enough to have been there in mid 2005 when Phil tried out his first serious creation on an un-suspecting crowd at the end of one of his DJ sets, all I can say is the response was electric!!!
On the back of this Phil was approached by event organisers Loose Grooves to perform a 30 minute live set at the “1 to 1 12 Hour Music Party” in October of that year. Slightly reluctant at first Phil agreed, he went on to perform one of the most ground breaking & memorable sets of the whole event performing 6 of his original creations, using the highly acclaimed Ableton Live, to a crowd of approximately 250 people.

I don't like to get too bogged down in genres/styles of electronic music as I believe they are constantly evolving, merging and changing. At the end of the day a good dance track is exactly that, regardless of what you want to call it.
