My name is Vahagn Turgutyan, I am a professional Flamenco guitarist, originally from Yerevan, Armenia, but raised in the state of California. I first picked up the guitar at the age of nine thanks to my father Sarkis Turgutyan, a premier soloist for the Soviet Philharmonic, who was my very first teacher and stepping stone into the guitar world. At a very young age he began unraveling, for me, the various forms and techniques of flamenco guitar playing. This set a very strong foundation for my future and my ongoing enthusiasm and passion for the guitar.As my guitar playing developed I embarked on the first of my many trips to Spain, where I furthered my studies in flamenco with Paco Serrano, one of the leading flamenco guitarists in the world. At this point in my life I came to terms with what flamenco really meant, after all I was in Andalucia, the city where flamenco was born. During my 6 month stay in Sevilla and Cordoba I also studied "acompanimiento para cante" (accompaniment for flamenco singing) with David Pino a Professor at the Conservatory of Cordoba. During my next trip to Spain I participated in the Cordoba Guitar Festival where I first met my childhood idol, "Maestro" Manolo SanLucar. After taking interest in me, he invited me to participate in his annual Guitarra Flamenco Superior Classes in Malaga, Spain. After recieving my certificate in the Superior level, Maestro SanLucar took further interest in my guitar skills and offered a rare opportunity to study with him on an individual basis, in order to enhance my career as an up and coming artist. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
