Always ready to go-go!!

About Me

Mild mannered dollybird by day, Intergalactic go-go girl by night!! I've done a lot of crazy things during my 38 years on this planet, always try to fit in as much fun as possible! I do a sixties/garage radio show called Subterranea from 6 til 8 pm every Friday night on 4ZZZ (102.1fm, www.4zzzfm.org.au), the best little radio station in Australia, where until a couple of years ago I was part of HellMetal, which I did for ten years with my friend Skull. For a really long time we were the only all girl heavy metal radio show in Australia. But it was Skull's show, I was comic relief... my main musical inspiration has always been the sixties and early seventies. I love love LOVE music, vintage fashion, purple, silver, chocolate, raspberries, my dog Pugsley (RIP my favourite doggy!!), Morris & Austin Minis (no BMW Minis for me, thanks!!), Siamese fighting fish, my groovy friends, boots and go-go dancing, of course!! It's the funnest fun EVER!! I would like to thank the gorgeous Miss Mary Huff of Southern Culture on the Skids for insisting that I get up on stage with them and dance when they toured Australia in 2005... without that little kick in the pants I'd still just be go-go dancing around my apartment!!
Dark Purple
To others, you seem a bit dark, mysterious, and moody.
In truth, you are just a very unique person who doesn't care what others think.
And you really enjoy your offbeat interests and friends.
You've decided that life is about living for yourself - simple as that. What Color Purple Are You?Well, I don't think I'm dark, moody or mysterious... but I DO like purple!!!
You are Wonder Woman Wonder Woman 87% Spider-Man 85% Iron Man 85% Superman 80% Supergirl 77% Robin 67% Green Lantern 65% The Flash 60% Hulk 35% Batman 30% Catwoman 30% You are a beautiful princess

My Interests

Create a Lava Lamp

I like to make my own go-go dancin' outfits from vintage patterns and wyld and groovy fabrics, but please don't ask me to make anything for you, because I sew by hand (that's right, NO SEWING MACHINE) It takes forever, but it's worth the effort, trust me! I collect boots,
You Are Bold Red Boots
You like to put your most outrageous foot forward! What Kind of Boots Are You? I also collect vintage bathing suits and far out sixties cocktail gowns obsessively... LOVE to go out and see bands, hang out with my friends, travel, swim in the surf, and rummage around in second hand stores... am restoring my car Ringo, a 1964 Morris Mini... he will look better than this when he's finished.. This ad for Minis has Twiggy, the Beatles, Mick Jagger and Peter Sellers in it!!! HOW COOL!! I'm also trying to restore my gorgeous 1960's apartment to its former glory, amongst other things... In the interest of getting more fit and having some fun, I am about to strap on my skates again and get into roller derby... LOOKOUT!!! HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! What Lonestar Rollergirl team are you?
You are a Hellcat, you're mean, you're rough and you drag with the best of them

I'd like to meet:

Mini and scooter fans, Sixties freaks, crafty folk into sewing and vintage clothes, other radio show hosts and bands in the Sixties/garage/trashy rocknroll vein, and other go-go dancers to compare notes with! HOWEVER, if you are thinking about contacting me for webcam/msn chat action, FORGET IT CHUMP! What you see on my page is all you're gonna see, so move along... and get a life while you're at it! If your band would like for me to play your tunes on the radio here in Brisbane, please send your cds to Judy Jetson, c/- 4ZzZfm, PO Box 509, Fortitude Valley, QLD 4006, Australia. I'll be updating my playlists regularly so you can see what I play!!

Music:

Okay, here we go.... primarily I LOVE wyld sixties garage punk, particularly Australian.. surprised? You shouldn't be, it's the BEST!! admit it.. Faves are the Purple Hearts, the Missing Links, The Easybeats, The Atlantics, The Loved Ones, Tol-Puddle Martyrs, the Chimney Sweeps....Here's some fab footage of the Easybeats doing a few songs with the best Aussie go-go girls in the business!! AND PART 2!! Love the Standells, the Who, the Chocolate Watchband, Nancy Sinatra, the Ronettes, The Kinks, The Poets, Los Shains, so many others!! I totally love this song... Also modern bands inspired by those crazy sixties sounds, The Maggots, Dr Explosion HOW COOL ARE THESE GUYS?! .. the 5678's and bands from the 80's who were likewise inspired, again, too many to list.. also love real glam rock from the early 70's like Suzi Quatro, T-Rex, Bowie, New York Dolls, as well as the rougher stuff like the Stooges and the MC5 and some punk from the later 70's, the Buzzcocks, Ramones, The Damned... our local counterparts, the Saints, Radio Birdman... I love all the Australian music that I grew up listening to, particularly the Stems, the Church, the Hoodoo Gurus, the Scientists, Beasts of Bourbon, The Lime Spiders, The Cosmic Psychos, The Eastern Dark, The Screaming Tribesmen, Died Pretty, Voodoo Lust, aaagh! So many, I can't list them all!! Also love spacerock, psychedelia, stoner rock (I am the world's BIGGEST Monster Magnet fan.. it's TRUE!!) rockabilly, surf instros as well as jungle exotica and cheesy lounge music.. loads of stuff!!

Your Theme Song is Groove is in the Heart by Dee-lite
"We're going to dance
And have some fun"

For you, life should be one huge party...
And even though it's not, you tend to dance your troubles away! What's Your Theme Song? HMM... Apparently...!? At least they wore some groovy outfits in the video!

Movies:

The Italian Job, ORIGINAL VERSION of course!! Yellowbeard, Our Man Flint, Casino Royale, Harold And Maude, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Monty Python movies, anything by Russ Meyer, Biker and psychedelic flicks, James Bond movies (particularly the ones with Sean Connery), Speedway, Blue Hawaii and Viva Las Vegas, Gypsy, Barbarella, Vampiros Lesbos (that soundtrack!!!),The Year My Voice Broke, Pee Wee's Big Adventure... Hell, Trash Video is in my town, every trashy film I could ever want to see on my doorstep!!

Television:

Cartoons, mostly Hanna Barbera and Warner Brothers... of course the Jetsons are my fave! Closely followed by The Beatles and Jackson 5 cartoons and Marine Boy (a really old Japanese cartoon, kinda like Astro Boy but much cooler!) The Groovy Goolies, Josie and the Pussycats and The Hair Bear Bunch.. The Partridge Family were always so much cooler than the Brady Bunch because they were a family who were also a band... and Keith was such a spunk when I was four years old... Other shows from the sixties and seventies that I grew up watching, like I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched Get Smart, Batman, the Monkees, The Banana Splits, Sigmund the Sea-Monster, Lost in Space (The Jupiter 2 left earth on my 28th birthday... weird!)the Addams Family and Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp ... I also like the Young Ones and Little Britain is quite hilarious... aside from that, television ROTS YER BRAIN KIDS!!

Books:

Biographies mostly, particularly those of Ronnie Spector ("Be My Baby"), Gypsy Rose Lee and "Sorry - the Wretched tale of Little Stevie Wright"... tragic story, but a very interesting read. I'm currently reading "Pig City" by Andrew Stafford, a great book on Brisbane music from the early to mid seventies til the present.. read it if you can get a hold of a copy!

Heroes:

David Bowie... without him I wouldn't have discovered as much cool music as I did during my teenage years, and he is the only man in the world who could EVER look sexy with a mullet...

Iggy Pop for saving my life in 1989 (and, well, for being Iggy Pop!!), Dave Wyndorf for being able to be a rock god AND a nice guy at the same time (aside from writing some mindblowing songs as well!)...hmm... Big Pretzel is my go-go heroine... Lori Williams is another go-go heroine. I love Tura and Haji too

Ann Margret, what a kitten!

Poison Ivy, the ultimate redhead rock'n'roll supervixen...

I know there are others out there, just gotta think about it a bit more...
