KIM SESSION

About Me

Kim was born in San Diego, California and her family soon moved to Arizona. Shortly, Kim's Mother became a very successful model and her Grandfather became Governor. Kim followed in her Mothers footsteps and joined the world of modeling and acting , and moved back to California . She also picked up the bass guitar as a "hobby" that a friend had suggested to her years previously. But she took it seriously-studying privately for years with a Berklee school of music scholar and playing up and down the Sunset Strip with alt band, Epoxy Glow which got Critics Choice in the LA Reader, and some international compilations. Kim soon started working at Wilder Brothers Recording studio in LA and got her first paid recording session. Fate would have her move overseas to Australia where she toured with a rockabilly group for a year. Upon returning to the states, she wanted somewhere musical but not LA. She chose Austin . That lasted about a year too- then the restlessness took over and she moved to a place that's mystery would never stop haunting her after several visits- New Orleans. This was a more passive journey as an observer of music and most notably tthe upright bass. After a year Kim moved back to Austin, became a fixture on the Blues scene, played in an all African- American church for years, toured Europe for six months with another all-African Americican group-The Voices of Gospel, played with Alan Haynes and JJ and the Bop at legendary TCs Lounge and now currently leads two bands: Kim and Her Blues Boys and Kim and Her Blues Girls which have been graced with the likes of Buddy Miles and Pinetop Perkins respectively. Blues Boys have consisted of the Late Gary Primich and Uncle John Turner, Alan Haynes, Mike Keller, Mark Goodwin and a whole host of other Austin's finest players. Beginning October 9th 2007 Kim will be the host at the world famous Antones for a blues jam sponsored by the Austin Blues Society. The Austin Blues Society is a productive organization that among other things promotes music education at the elementary level. Please join at www.austinbluesocity.org.
